I miss the weekend already. And it’s Tuesday. But it feels like Monday. So I’m completely out of whack. Because I’m often confused easily. I tell my mom I got her ditzy gene. She hates when I say that.
I did enjoy my Monday off (which felt like Sunday, so again I was all thrown off). I crawled out of bed at 8:00 and slowly got ready for my run. Too slowly. I was in the middle of my first loop on the trail and all the sudden the sky darkened. What a waste of good sunscreen, I thought. Then I started to wonder how long it would be until the rain started. Maybe I’d get in the whole four miles.
Nope. By the time I saw the second or third bolt of lightning in the distance, I decided to finish up my 2.5 miles and then do the last 1.5 on the treadmill. My average pace was 8:28. This was faster than what I have been doing, but I’m sure it had something to do with the fact that I ran the last mile in a downpour. The sky just opened and let me have it. Like I said, I got the four miles done thanks to the treadmill. I got stares from another girl in the gym. She was probably wondering why I was pounding it out on the treadmill looking like a wet dog. I didn’t care enough to explain what happened and that I found no reason to go home and change just to go get another set of clothes all sweaty. That’s just how I think. Sure, I risked some serious chaffing- but no worries, didn’t happen.
Since I was too full to enjoy the BBQ my guys grilled up the day before, I felt left out. So I did some fake BBQ’ing in my oven. And made some BBQ ranch chicken wraps.
I’ve convinced myself that these were better than the actual grilled food from the night before. Shhhh…. don’t try to tell me otherwise.
I also had iced tea. In a glass. Another quirk I think I get from my mom. She always says that iced tea tastes better out of a glass. I sort of believe it.
Do you have any quirks or weird ways you picked up from one of your parents? Give me some good ones…
I almost forgot to tell you about the cookies I attempted. I used Julie’s three-ingredient peanut butter cookie recipe. And then added some white chocolate chips. Because I have an obsession.
They were sooooo peanut-buttery good. My only problem is they fell apart pretty easily. But for a quick treat, they worked. Thanks Julie!
Tonight’s a night of cross training. Which is fine. It’s supposed to be rainy all week, so I don’t mind. I’ve been contemplating a 5k next Sunday, but just can’t make up my mind. I think all the rain in the forecast isn’t helping. Plus, I’m volunteering at a race on Saturday, so that gives me no days of sleeping in next weekend. Hmmm… I’ve also got my eye on a couple other random 5ks this month, so we’ll see what happens. I think I just have an itch to do a race…
Ok kids… it’s time for me to reluctantly start moving…. ugh. Have a good week! :p

I LOVE sweet baby rays BBQ sauce, yummy!
I can’t believe it’s Tuesday either, it’s throwing me off.
That’s funny, because I actually don’t like drinking out of “real” glasses! I never have but I’m not quite sure why! You should definitely scratch that 5K itch. I need to get back in running shape because I am dying to get a race in too!
Oh too funny! It often doesn’t bother me for any beverage other than tea… random
moms are so smart!! i love how we all get these quirks from our parents!!! its great!
that wrap looks goooood!!
niceee on the 5ks the more the better
!!
Your wrap looks great! I’m going to be off all week because of the holiday weekend! I’ll be a day behind all week!
When unloading my cart at the foodstore, my mom taught me to categorize; cold foods first, then boxes, then soft. That way they’re bagged together. Also she puts the yogurt in the fridge in order of expiration date. And most of my sports watching habits/tendencies came from my dad. Oh goodness there are so many more but its super early…perhaps a second comment will come later in the day.
That is kind of a good idea with the food at the grocery store- because it’s much better than just letting the baggers throw it all in and you get home with damaged goods…
i am totally making those cookies today! yummo. i give you credit for going to the gym soaking like a wet dog. you are one dedicated girl! good job! oh, i was totally thrown off yesterday all day long, thinking it was still sunday. i am off today also, so this will totally wack my week out! have a great day! xo
I ran in the rain last week too. I couldn’t believe it was raining and despite looking like a wet dog I just kept going. People were staring at me because I looked rather scary.
The cookies look fantastic!
Me too… especially because I still had eye makeup on from the night before. I looked like I had cried for a week… or like a sick raccoon. One or the other.
The holiday weeeknd definitely has me confused as well. So it’s Tuesday right?
It was a fun time but now back to the grind of things. We had rain in southern IL yesterday too, wish I could say I got a run in but did not ha! Have a great week girl!
Holidays always throw my weeks off. Today is my trash day and the only reason I remembered was because I heard the garbage truck coming down my street! haha! I got it out there in time but barely…dang holiday confusion!
Oh I’ve done that before… and it’s a race to get out the door before they pull away! Ugh…
Nothing like terrifying storms to make you pick up the pace. I’ve definitely sprinted out of my mind during lightning storms. It’s like those adrenaline rushes that have tiny women lifting cars off of their children, except much less impressive. I’m sure I have a ton of weird quirks from my parents, but I prefer not to dwell on them. Both my mom and I are obsessive bathroom-cleaners. I guess that’s quirky.
Well you’re sorta right- but yes, less impressive and much more hazardous to your health. :p
Gosh, all day yesterday felt like Sunday. NOT that I’m complaining….I love skipping Mondays! We need to just get rid of them completely.
Um, those cookies are genius. ESPECIALLY with white chocolate chips! White chocolate makes everything better.
“White chocolate makes everything better.”
I could not agree more.
Awesome that you finished even after getting drenched/stormed out. I probably would have gone home and had a snack.
I’m so thrown off today too, it’s bizarre. But hey, short week.. I’m not complaining! And I have the ditzy gene too.. not quite sure where I got it but I sure do. And being blonde plus that equals lots of blonde jokes. Haha, so very funny. Not really.
Yep- when I was blonde, that happened more often that I’d like.
Oh man I bet running in the rain IS actually a good thing because you speed up to get home ASAP. That is FAST!
Yeah, running in the rain is one thing, but when you see lightning…uhhh
I was totally cool with the rain thing. Running in it was kinda fun (except my anxiety about my phone shorting out because that’s what my music is on). But the lightning scared the hell out of me. Can’t believe people were still walking at a lesiurely pace as it was flashing in the sky…
if i ever saw lightning on my run i think i’d die from fright! but i suppose it’s a good way to get a tempo in haha
I get really thrown off by long weekends, too. One time I actually forgot it was a long weekend and headed to school on Monday morning… I was totally wondering where all the morning traffic was on that day.
Hope you’re having a good Tuesday, girl!
i hate odd weekends…always throuws me off, but when Im that much closer to friday again I just go with the flow…even if that means stamping everything with the wrong weekday
oh man ive gone to the gym and pounded out the rest of my miles on a treadmill looking like a sweaty mess…i get those looks too, like why the hell is she so sweaty and stinky…she just got here…whatevs…little do they know I was out running in the real world and actually putting some effort into my workouts
“Running in the real world” ha ha Love it!
i know i feel so wonky today too….glad it is tuesday but feels like monday. oh more and more everyday i remind myself of my mother-sometimes very scary!
I know what you mean… I often go “woah… that was a mom move”. That is often followed up by a text to my brother freaking out about whatever I just did… :p
I would have done the same – no sense in dirtying clothes unnecessarily. That just means more laundry in the longrun. I need to try making those cookies this week – I keep seeing them pop up here and there.
For three ingredients- they were simple and easy. Not the best cookies ever- but definitely a little treat!
I hate running in a downpour! Although running in a light drizzle is lovely. That very rarely happens though. Good job still getting in your miles. I would have felt sorry for myself and stopped after I got soaked.
Cookies are looking pretty nice! And it totally feels like a monday, ugh.
weekend!… oh yes Tuesday. well I wish… you got my hopes up
I’m not loving the Monday feeling myself. Looks like it must be universal! Great job on finishing up the run on the mill. I would have said, eff that.
I’m super ditzy and clumsy like my mom. I love her. OK enough of the cheese . . .
I’m also completely thrown off today. I wouldn’t have changed either, everything is just going to get all sweaty and wet anyway. I’m really clumsy, I have no idea where I get it from but I’m constantly tripping and falling. Fell down the stairs yesterday morning.
I’m the same. And I never learn. I’ll bump into the same thing ten times before I even notice… true story.
Being thrown off is the best thing about 3 day weekends…the next weekend will be here before you even know it…yay!

90% of my weird quirks can be blamed on my dad. I will randomly break into song, or do a dance in front of the tv when no one is paying attention to me. I didnt realize it either until I saw him doing the exact same thing.
I totally wouldnt have changed my clothes either. Total wasted effort. But of course, Im not a good example seeing as how I only shower after a workout if Im going somewhere. lol
ha ha ha… I think that’s just awesome! It’s like a toddler that starts breaking out a little bounce/dance motion without even thinking… :p
ha sorry you got caught in the rain!! But super excited you wore sunscreen! You go girlie!
I’m pretending that I was testing out it’s claim to be waterproof… ha!
need those cookies in my belly now!! reminds me of the white choc ones i saw/sampled at the health fair! yums <3 haha loved the little cartoon- adorable!
HATE THE FREAKING RAIN! B.C. always has rain..worst part about living here!
Ok, tea absolutely tastes better out of a glass! Hands down!!! Yeah, I think you can get quirkiness from your parents…it is totally genetic. I see my kids doing things that we do or things that my sister did that totally drove me crazy (my youngest one picks things apart sometimes when he eats…like picking the cheese off of cheese toast, ugh that grosses me out). Anyway, I am with you…I was not ready for this week to start. I hope it was a good one anyway!
The Tuesday thing is really driving me nuts. I actually feel like its Friday, and have just been disappointed over and over again today lol. I agree 100% about it tasting better out of a glass! I think most drinks taste better out of a glass.
