Tuesdays are never my cup of tea (yes, Marie, it’s more grandma terminology!).
Even though I was feeling a little funky, I made the best of it.
Because you guys are cool. And you made me feel better about how hard I’ve been on myself about the silly ol’ race from last weekend. Thanks.
And because I felt a little better about that, I decided to do a run instead of the elliptical. Ironically, this is after my declaration of wanting to cut back on running and do more cross training. Eh. What are ya gonna do? It was a Tuesday…
I decided to do 3 miles and make the most of it. So I did. And ended up with an 8:12 pace. You have no idea how happy I was! My friend Mon was working out, too, and looked over at me with a raised eye when I kept upping the speed. She knew what was going down.
To be honest, it’s funny that the run went so smoothly. The boss took us out for mexican food today. After an order of enchiladas, my workout could have easily gone south- I think we all remember the pizza and running combo and how big of a disaster that was! Or maybe I just remember it? Insert shudders here…
After all that, I came home and decided against what I had planned for dinner. I wasn’t feelin’ it (still not hungry after the big lunch maybe?). So I went for something classic:
Sure, it wasn’t the most balanced option. My whole day was pretty carb heavy. But I wanted a peanut butter sandwich, damnit!
I think that’s one thing us kooky kids who sometimes blog or take pictures of our food have to be mindful of. Quite a few of the bloggers I read have talked about it. And some have even stopped taking pictures altogether because of the pressure to eat a certain way. I’ll admit- there’s a sometimes a nagging feeling to keep every day completely balanced and healthy. But what happens when you’re craving something different? Or just don’t feel like cooking? Not sure about you, but when I feel like this and even though there was probably a better option (“health-wise”) in my refrigerator, I’m eating the pb sandwich…
Gotta keep the brain receptors happy, too- ya know?
What’s the most random meal you’ve had recently?

Yeah, that’s pretty much why I’ve taken to only posting pictures of food when it’s a really good meal, or a recipe I’ve come up with.
Oh man, mexican for lunch?! I woulda been snoozing at my desk.
I started craving a good ‘ol pb& last night! I am totally going to have one too! I like posting about different stuff food wise, not because I want to look a certain way, but to be honest because we all eat kooky sometimes. Your sandwich only made my craving worse! I hope you have a good day today Amy!
HAHAHA: “After an order of enchiladas, my workout could have easily gone south…” You kill me!!
Granted, I don’t make any claims to being balanced or healthy but I don’t think you should have to justify what you eat to anyone. If someone criticizes you it’s because they have too much time on their hands or they’re insecure about their own eating habits.
As for the photo issue, I like to use the following criteria:
-is the photo relevant/interesting necessary?
-is it offensive/tasteless/raunchy?
-will it get me a cheap laugh?
ahahaha… you have such high standards for your photographs!
Last night I was babysitting, and after doing some rummaging, I ended up taking down a few handful of Cheez-its (my favorite, but I never have them in my house, because I can’t control myself) and some pumpkin soup. An orange meal, you might say
I had a peanut butter sandwich yesterday as well! That was probably my most random meal in awhile…I loved every bite too!
The run probably went so well because you took the pressure off yourself. Makes such a difference!
I eat random meals all the time, and I don’t worry too much about how it looks on my blog. I’m pretty sure everyone already knows I make no sense!
Good point! I really don’t have anything I’m training for- just going for the enjoyment of it all…
I know that’s why I don’t take pictures of every meal. I felt that pressure and I didn’t like it!
I had tacos last night and a piece of strawberry cake for desert!
I think you could have done a lot worse than a PB sandwich for dinner! If I didn’t eat PB toast for breakfast (umm…every morning) I’d definitely eat that for dinner sometimes! Sometimes a sandwich is all you want!
pb toast is just sooooooo good. I see this being a trend with me…
I have found that on those days that I just don’t feel like running or am sore from a tough workout the day before that I usually have my most productive runs. I believe it is because I am dialed in a bit more and listening to my body.
I love PB sammies!! Lately I’ve coined a new term for my breakfasts – breakfast messes – and just basically throw anything and everything in there. It mostly goes together but its kind of just a random assortment of whatever is appealing to me at the moment.
I dunno if I could post EVERYTHING I eat – I think I would be too worried about judgey mcjudgersons reading my blog. So good for you guys who do
Exactly. That’s why I keep it to just one meal usually. You get a little snippet of how I roll…
My meals have been the epitome of random lately. No veggies, all carbs, and the easiest thing possible. Ah well, c’est la vie.
Awesome job on the run, gotta do what feels good!
That’s why I don’t post my meals. I’d totally stress myself out if I had to eat foods that fit with my blog.
ps. I’m having a peanut butter sandwich for lunch.
That’s exactly why I don’t post all my meals. I ate popcorn for lunch last week. I don’t always eat breakfast. Sometimes I just snack through the day and never really have a real meal. I think this is normal. And if not, I don’t really care.
I know what you mean. I decided awhile back that I’m not going to try to be perfect anymore. I always aim to be balanced, but this is life and there are days when it just isn’t going to happen! Good for you for embracing what your body was craving:)
My most random meal was, as you know, last night – corn, green beans, broccoli and half a potato. It worked!
yay for your run today!!
i often feel like a nut. and a pb sandwich is often what I eat for lunch. so rock on for having one yourself
random meal…hmmmm it was probably the philly cheesesteak sandwich with salad and white rice in a tortilla. yes it was a clinic night and dinner was a donation from a local restaurant. so i eat what’s put in front of me
he he he… sometimes nights with a little bit of everything are good ones!
My random ‘meals’ usually mean a crapload of various snacks that leave me completely unfullfilled, which I hate!
I too have been uber carb heavy as of late :-/
Look at your run time, that’s awesome. Maybe it’s the after effect of the cocoa:)
I had Mexican last night with friends, screw being good all week. Go with what you want, listen to your body. Yes, even when it demands a margarita:)
ahahaha… all that chocolate finally kicked in!
I used to cave to the pressure of eating a balanced meal, even when i was craving something totally different. Now, I say to hell with it. I’ll eat what I want. And it usually balances out in the end without even really trying.
It’s true- I’ve been hitting up green veggies all day. Must be making up with where I was lacking yesterday…
I had yogurt and granola for lunch the other day….. do what you want
random. omg. queen of random. monday night i ate a mix of black beans + cord + italian dressing…with a side of cottage cheese. then right after i had tea w/ biscotti. wtf?
ummm…. yum?
I like random. Keeps things inneressing.
I felt the pressure and my creativity was zapped so I quit food blogging. I love the good ol’ PB sandwich though! Brings back memories of childhood.
Nice job on the run! I do remember your pizza and workout combo. I almost had to run to the nearest bathroom to keep from peeing my pants!
ahahaha… it was pretty funny. Not at the time, but the day after I got a good laugh out of it!
mmmm I love PB sandwiches!! Can’t go wrong there.
A PB sandwich is a solid meal! Do not be ashamed
I’d eat pretty much anything that included pb and carbs. Screw the balanced diet.
Every meal is so random as of late. I don’t know what’s with me! Last night I had a random veggie salad and toast with pumpkin butter. Thrilling, eh?
Some days a peanut butter sandwich is all that I crave. But I need so jelly too haha! I don’t post all the meals I eat because why do people care what I eat? I feel like all that causes depending on the person is comparing and why worry about what others are doing when you have yoursefl to worry about….sorry don’t mean to be harsh.
Great post though!
Oh man, I’ve had a ton of random meals.
My husband used to look at me strange and question me when he would see some of the meals I would put together. I knew he was used to me when I made a plate of beef jerky, cucumber slices and a cupcake and he didn’t even say anthing:)
When I was younger I used to order pickle blizzards at Dairy Queen. They had to stop making them for me when customers, who orderd after me, started complaining that their blizzards tasted a bit like pickles:)
ahahahaha… I love it!
Up until the pickle blizzard thing. ew….
I honestly can’t imagine posting everything I ate. It would be appallingly boring and brown. But, hey, I love toasty sandwiches, so yours looks good.
Last night I ate those organic Sun-something chocolate pieces, a root beer, and yogurt for dinner. TOTES BLOGWORTHY.
Mmm, nothing better than a pb sandwich. A couple days ago after a long day of classes and meetings, I collapsed on the couch with a spoon and a can of pumpkin puree and ate it straight- up. Oddly satisfying, though I felt like I was eating baby food
That’s why I don’t photograph everything I eat. I don’t want to feel too much pressure to always eat certain foods. I think it’s most important to just listen to your body

It’s a good thing I don’t take pictures of all my food because I would probably give true health freaks a heart attack. I had a salad today for the first time in over a month.. and I’ve been eating almost no greens for that same amount of time.
One of my most random meals probably happened today. For lunch I just had a salad of romaine lettuce, black beans and tofu (plain! nom) and then a berry muffin on the side. Twas delicious.
I’m glad you listened to your gut and enjoyed that peanut butter sandwich. We need to take care of our bodies…and sometimes they know what we need more than our minds too! I adore peanut butter sandwiches (actually my favorite is whole grain bread, bananas and almond butter) Yum! I hope you have a beautiful day tomorrow!
See what happens when you don’t have yourself in a choke hold?
The pb sammie looks yummm-eee! I am starved! My carrots even look good right now, staring back at me!
pb sandwiches are so perfect at the right time!
I honestly can’t remember the last time I had a PB (with or without J) or not. Yours looks so good! Toasted bread and everything. You’re correct: Gotta keep those brain receptors happy!
Mexican for lunch and then you ran? You are basically my idol girl lol!!
I had PB sandwich last night too! It was just one of those nights.
Oh and I had Annie’s Hunny Bunnies as a “side dish”
