Hello!
I’m back from my long holiday weekend in Missouri and things already feel like they’re back to normal.
Rain. Coffee. Work. Computer. Tuesday. Yep- the weekend is definitely over. Meh.
The drive back to Chicago went alright. Although I’m now convinced there’s a rain cloud that just travels with my car. Just can’t get enough of that rain. Woot woot!
We won’t complain anymore, though. I made good time and was still able to make my Whole Foods date with Mon! After a long weekend of good eats, a little bit of roughage was necessary. And appreciated by not only my tastebuds, but also my digestive system. Yep.
But then we counteracted our healthy dinner date with a trip to Target.
This was planned months ago- like all the way back when we stumbled upon Valentine’s Day clearance after the holiday had passed.
No- I’m not chowing down on chocolate. As much as I’d like to. Just stocking up for future baking and such. There isn’t usually a chocolate stash in the house, but as long as the bag of candy isn’t open, there’s usually not a problem.
I cannot promise the same discipline once the bag is open. I can only warn you to watch your fingers.
I also cannot promise that I will stop talking about candy any time soon. Sorry. 
After the dinner and shopping, we finished catching up on each other’s weekends with a trip to the gym. A half hour of treadmill walking made me feel sooooo much better after being stuck in a car all day. The leggies appreciated it.
Now if only someone could help me out with the tightness in my back from sitting for a total of 16 hours in a car over the weekend…
And speaking of sugar… sounds like you really enjoyed the pics of my mom’s Coconut Cream Crunch and Almond Joy Cake. We may have to give them their proper time to shine on the blog sooner than later. Noted.
Also, thanks for letting me know I’m not the only weirdo who doesn’t like ham.
Seriously- for all this time I thought it was just me.

Love the clearance candy. For some reason it always seems even more special and tasty to me because I got it so cheap.
Spring Sparkling Sugars… I wouldn’t even konw what to do with that.

Dirty dog! I went to cvs last night and their clearance sucked. I will have to check out Target today.
Ohhh…I need to get some Cream Eggs up in me.
I can’t believe I haven’t had any easter candy, or that I left my aunt’s house without snagging leftover turkey and potatoes.
My target didn’t have any good crap left! I didn’t get to go til 5pm. I was pissed. The day after V-day I went at 8 in the morning. No joke. There were a bunch of other women there hoarding too. Shameful. I got the kids clif bars last night too. They were like 3 bucks!
For some reason I’m laughing at the clif kids bars also in the cart.
I’m weird.
I didn’t get any Easter candy this year. That’s kind of unfair. Glad you brought up the after holiday sales.
I was just telling Jay that he needs to go grab his favorite candy since everything’s on clearance right now. We’re both dying to try the dark chocolate covered peeps!!
I do the exact same thing..stock up on post holiday candy. Thanks for the reminder…I’ll be hitting up Tarjay for my jelly beans Friday!
I’m the same with chocolate stashes. Once that bag is open, so is chocolate season. I’m so going to Target today to stock up.
I’m pretty sure the discount candy is my favorite retail aspect of any holiday. I can’t wait to see what you bake with it all!

I saw all the clearanced candy at Walgreen’s yesterday and thought about how smart it would be to stock up.. and then I didn’t.
Clearance candy is such a great idea the day after a holiday. Open bags are fair game in my house though!
so now the BEP song is stuck in my head. not terrible but i’m going to want to dance for the rest of the work day!
I almost stocked up on the chocolate yesterday, but refrained from it since I know I have little monsters here that will eat it all too fast. They are going to visit Gramma soon, so there will be tons of chocolate there. I hope you have a great week Amy!

Clearance candy for baking? GENIUS!
I literally went to Target the first thing yesterday morning to get clearance Easter candy and all the chocolate was gone! I was devastated. I did score a bag of cookie mix for a dollar, though!
I just discovered your blog and the main thing I’m thinking is, this girl can pick up Metropolitan beer any day of the week. I look forward to reading about your days in Chicago!
I saw SO much candy at the grocery store today on sale… unfortunately i through all of mine out because i have no self control!
