What’s Good

Good morning!

Since the government says that you shouldn’t work on the holiday, I also decided to take that as a sign as to not blog on the holiday either. Or the holiday weekend, for that matter…

Not sure when I would have fit in the time, anyway. It was a very busy weekend. In this case, though, busy is definitely good. What with spending all my time lounging on rooftops and all…

That and having a few legendary days of going out with friends for brunch.Ahem…

What? PBR was on special…

I even found time in my busy schedule to meet up with blogging buds…Megan and SIL (from her fab features on Low and Behold) enjoyed a little of the Wrigleyville Block Party with me and my roomie on Sunday! Also, a lot of dancing happened. A LOT.Not sure what’s going to happen when I can’t bust a move at the street fests anymore? I predict lots of sadness.

And maybe a need to sign up for jazzercise. (spirit fingers!)

Most people departed the area after that (silly dinner dates and such), so Megan and I paired up and decided to take in a little of the scenery at Murphy’s Bleachers.

A fine establishment. Where we know people. People who let the drinks flow freely and supply us with endless mozzerella sticks.

It’s good to know people.

It’s also good to have a supply of coffee on hand along with Home Alone on the dvr.

What better way to spend 4th of July morning watching 90′s Christmas flicks?

It’s also good to plan outfits accordingly. Like how I did yesterday afternoon for a BBQ.The strategy is to always wear the loosest summer dress you own when attending BBQ’s.

You maximize your intake of grilled food that way.The BBQ was with Mon’s fam and friends. They’re fun. Hence the napkin.

I’ve also been busy at getting some physical activity in. As an attempt to cancel out some of the adult activity. 3.6 humid miles on Friday evening and 3.7 on Sunday morning. MapMyRun.com has been an awesome discovery. After being a little weary about the new technology I’m getting myself into, I’m now obsessed with mapping out the miles after every run.

Uh oh- is this the new motivation I need?

Hopefully so!

Anyway, I hope you all had a great weekend. I’m gonna go sit and suffer my exhaustion hangover from the weekend. It was a loooooong weekend. Whew…

It also didn’t help that people in the neighborhood were shooting off firecrackers/fireworks until all hours of the night.

Sigh. Sleep is overrated anyway.

Later!

  1. Mapmyrun = the best. Also, glad to see I wasn’t the only one who took a blogging mini-vacay this weekend- the weather was perfect and not conducive to hanging out in my office!

  2. I LIVE in dresses in the summer. No literally I sleep outside in a tent made of dresses….haaaa ok sorry, so tired from the long weekend….
Looks like you ladies had a fab time, one of these days I’m coming out there and crashing one of these block parties!!

  3. Summer sundresses are the best. But then, anything having to do with the summer is the best. I’m def. going to have to hit up one of those Wrigleyville parties – so fun!

  4. Looks like such a fun weekend!!! :)

  5. haha I live in sundresses during the summer. Especially because the summer months are usually 90+ degrees. And it means I can usually disguise a food baby if I need to… ;) haha

  6. Don’t drink PBR if you have to justify it. It’s at least better than that awful conglomerate beer from St.Louis.

  7. Yeah, seriously, people were still lighting off fireworks waaaaaay late last night!!

  8. Sounds like such a fun weekend.
I always dress in loose fitting clothes when attending a bbq. Its very important. :)

  9. That just cracks me up. I so wish I could have been there to hang out! Chicago is happening sometime! It’s non-negotiable.
Glad you had a good weekend!

  10. You can sleep when you’re dead right? Looks like a great weekend and um loose dresses are ALWAYS mandatory on holidays ;) That way you can properly eat like I may have eaten my weight in homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream ;) I need friends like you guys looks like a party!

  11. Wish I could have been at the block party again! Sad. The only exercise I got this weekend involved dancing and walking to and from the bars.

  12. I did well on my eating all weekend and then I totally fat-kid’ed out last night. And you better believe I was in my stretch wear!

  13. I love that napkin!

And mapping out runs makes for such motivation-I’m with you on that one.

  14. We are lookin’ soooo good. Totally forgot about those mozzarella sticks- they were pretty key. And they really were endless. I’m gonna say it- I think red is your color!

  15. Your weekend looks awesome! Glad you had fun! I indulged but kept it balanced with work outs too!! Happy belated 4th!

  16. I use that same strategy with the loose clothing. Only I use it daily.

  17. PBR, good runs, and bbq? Must have been a great weekend!

  18. Love your red dress! Totally agree w/ you on wearing something loose and stretchy during get togethers where food is involved. It’s no fun when you want to unbutton your shorts and you can’t.

  19. PBR is classic! :)

    Sounds like a great weekend!

  20. Finding Map my Run was amazing…I’ve actually switched over to DailyMIle which I happen to think is easier to use! And amen sista, thank goodness flowy loose dresses are totally IN…I need them for the ridic amounts of food I consume at holiday gatherings

  21. Busy is good when it involves a shit ton of BEER

  22. I’m with you – no blogging on the holiday! :)
Sounds like your weekend was pretty baller. The PBR pretty much proves it.

  23. Excellent strategy re: the loose summer dresses. I also find loose fitting tops to be livesavers at BBQs or all day eating events. Happy Tuesday!!! (right? because at least it’s not just Monday!)

  24. Love map my run!

Lokos like you’ve been having a blast!

  25. I love your Cibs tank, way cute. And I definitely dont hate on the PBR, it’s cheap and it does the trick. Besides, it’s better than Schlitz.

  26. I think I would have taken the weekend off from blogging with a weekend like that, too! Love Murphy’s :D Was your run on Saturday as horribly hot as mine? Ahhh I immediately regretted not getting out of the house until 8:00. It was 80 and humid, like ya said!

  27. I live by that dress rule. Gotta wear your eatin’ clothes!

  28. I love your BBQ dress, but I think I love the card that says “You know, I’m not wearing any underwear” the best hahahahahhaa. My sister and I always try to find ridiculous cards like that for one another. Looks like another fun weekend!

  29. I need some of those loose dresses! Well, needed some for last weekend :)

What a fun holiday! Again, Mon and her fam seem so cool!

  30. I’m all about the flowy dresses in the summer – I get to eat more food!!

  31. I’m just getting back at it today! Had so MUCH FUN meeting you! It was an awesome weekend! Those napkins are the shizzit by the way. Hilarious!
