The Nothing Goal

Running around is all I’ve been doing as of late.

It’s not so bad I guess. Today is Friday and there’s a pretty relaxed weekend ahead of me. And when I say “pretty relaxed”, I really mean there are only plans for one night.

As of right now. The planner seems to magically fill itself faster than I can keep up. There are worse things, I’m sure. But for the moment, I’ll enjoy the thought of a partially empty weekend.

I’m tired.

Why?

Several runs happened during lunch with my guy friend. Who is not getting any slower (like what I’m doing). Instead, he seems to thrive off of no sleep and staying out until 2:30 the night before. Stupid boys.

A 5k run with my girl Miss Annie. Which was also our chance to go over the race course for the Burdeen’s Diamond Dash 5k run/2k walk coming up in a little over a week! And yes- there’s still time to register or donate- all proceeds go to the Make A Wish Foundation and would be greatly appreciated!

Back on track- after all this cardio, Jillian Michaels reminded me how important it is to continue strength training on a regular basis or she’ll kick my butt. She did this as the plumber was 10 feet away from me fixing the sink (yes, yet another thing we’ve had leak in this house). I used to feel funny about the roommate watching me do workout videos. This was a whole new level of weird.

I also hit the elliptical for 20 minutes on top of that because I just didn’t feel “done”. Blame the coffee at 3pm. Whoopsies. Thankfully, it’s easy now to walk down to the gym for just 20 minutes if I feel like it. Starting to slowly love that. And sorta take back how angry I was the first time I visited

Clearly I was a rockstar with the workouts this week (or at least I think so, don’t tell me any different!). And the laundry. And the grocery shopping. As to free up my weekend even more. So I can, that’s right, do nothing at some point. That is the goal.

However, it will not be tonight. Because tonight is a nationally televised Mizzou football game- my alma mater.

The bar has been chosen. The Bud Light has been chilled. I am READY.

Have a good weekend, kids!

And GO MIZZOU!

  1. The planner seems to magically fill itself faster than I can keep up.

I have no idea what that’s like.

  2. You *were* a rockstar with the workouts! Go you!!!

I can’t get into college football. Maybe that’s because my alma mater is Duke, and we only win 1-2 games a year. ;-)

  3. I did Jillian for the first time with someone watching the other day. Wasnt as bad as I thought it would be!

  4. Next week, I’m going to rediscover that thing they call working out. I really hope anyways.

I would say good luck to Mizzou, but since we’re rivals now…

Have a good weekend, hope you get some nothing in!

  5. My weekend is completely empty and I love it. Of course, I’ll be doing homework for the first time in eight years, but I try not to think about that. :)
Did you try harder because the plumber was there? When I was working out at my parents house, I found myself whining and swearing less, and doing more of the advanced moves because my brother could see me. it was sad.

  6. Damn, you had to get ANOTHER thing fixed? Someone needs to bitch slap your landlord. I think it’s hilarious that you worked out in front of the plumber- you’re braver than I am. I once had to let a painter into my apt in my sports bra after an Insanity workout- poor guy was horrified.

  7. I saw the sign for the diamond and figure that’s what you must win if you run fast. In that case sign me up. Clearly I’m not altruistic!

  8. You are going to have free time and I’m going to have no time. I envy you. But, at least I get to eat Greek Food ALL DAY LONG on Saturday while I work the Greek Fest here in Okie-land. Happy weekend!

  9. Oh I love empty weekends. Especially when they come after long weeks or lots and lots of full weekends. I have that bad habit of filling them up little by little and then, when I look at it all, going “OMG there is no time to BREATHE this weekend.” Oops.

Right now we only have plans tomorrow night. But I’m sure I will mess that up on myself again. ;)

  10. Man, I wish! I have laundry to do and dishes to wash and food to cook and mile to run this weekend. Sunday night is my nothing night. :)
    Have a great weekend!

  11. I sucked at workouts this week. I did do laundry and go grocery shopping though.

  12. Yay for football, and I’m glad the gym has grown on you. Enjoy your weekend!

  13. The workouts sounded pretty rockstar to me. Enjoy the game. I can’t wait to watch my Tigers play tomorrow. :)

  14. This is a great goal- and have fun watching the game! My alma mater had no football team- a crying shame!

  15. There’s nothing better than watching a football game with an ice cold beer in your hand (preferably Bud Light ;) ). I love football season. Can’t wait for the Noles this Saturday, then STeelers Sunday!! :)

  16. Woo hoo! Rock those workouts! I’m going to see The National tonight!!!! Enjoy the game!

  17. Chill some Yuengling!! :) I don’t even know if they sell it in Chicago, actually…it’s my favorite beer not available in Boston.

  18. I get performance anxiety working out in front of other people who aren’t working out as well. I think it’s my lack of coordination and the fact that I know I look like an idiot. The boyfriend has had many a good laughs at me as I’ve attempted to do P90X in our living room…This is why I need to join a gym. Seriously.

Somtimes it’s nice to have a weekend that a little bit more free and open to possibilities. I have one of those myself this weekend and am hoping to get in some quality workout time because I was *not* a rockstar like you this week. Nicely done!

  19. Have a great weekend Amy! I hope you have tons of fun and some relaxation!

  20. I hear ya on the packed schedule. when will it calm down?!
Have a good weekend, lady :D

  21. I think I need to check-in with Jillian again…I feel lazy and she can always get me where I need to be!

Have a great weekend and a good time with your beer, the bar, and your game. I can’t think of a better combination. :)
