Before we get into it, I wanted to announce the winner to the Manna Organics Giveaway from last week!
Should I have done it yesterday? Probably. My bad…
Hey Emily! Please send me your mailing address so I can pass along your info and get your prize to ya! Yay!
Moving on…
It happened again, folks.
A long weekend. A long recovery on Sunday.
And then Monday rears its ugly head and forces me off my butt to once again become a productive member of society.
Probably a good thing. At least I know the set agenda by heart.
First thing is first- waking up.
Check. Yay me!
Second on the list- reintroduce things that aren’t fried or found in a candy bowl back into my diet. Oh and possibly apologize to my friend Mary for my and Laura’s ability to completely take down her leftover Halloween stash during our stay…
Green is the color of the day. And week, if we’re lucky. Brussels sprouts may also be my vegetable of the week. I’m very streaky with food phases. They usually last about a week or two at a time. So I probably should have bought two bags of them at the grocery store instead of just one. (Good bye sweet potatoes and beta carotene, hello brussels and vitamin C!)
I also opted for tea in the afternoon instead of coffee or Diet Coke (a favorite as of late- whoopsies). Our office has really stepped it up with the tea selection, so I went for Tazo “Awake” black tea.
Did it do the job?
The magic 8 ball says “it’s decidedly so”.
Which sounds about right.
Even with a few days off to run rampant travel, the next step on my list, the workout, went swimmingly.
Or runningly? A 3-mile run and 20 minutes on the elliptical. It’s like the weekend was sweating out of my body.
It probably grossed out everyone around me. *Hanging head in shame.”
All in all, the day was a healthy start to the rest of my week. Quite similar to many Mondays before it.
If only I wouldn’t tend to expel so much activity into my weekends and have more days like this “just because”.
Then, I’d probably continually look like the lean, green (not mean) fighting machine I’ve always attempted to be:
Instead of this:
Lesson probably not learned. But at least I recognize the issue. And that counts for something, right?

You’ll get back into it in no time- also, how’s that book you’ve got there?
Just started it- short and sarcastic stories, so clearly it’s up my alley. However, I haven’t been *overly* excited about it just yet…. I’ll let you know if anything changes.
haha I was also going to ask about that book, I’ve seen it around and it sounds funny. Let us know if it’s any good!
I love brussel sprouts but they always give me gas! ha! TMI!
it’s possible that’s why I don’t eat them on the weekends…
I’m trying to be really good too since the holidays are coming up, aka “November to January Stuff Your Face Fest”. But look, it’s not my fault we go like like 5 Thanksgivings in one day. I think at this point I’m qualified to be a professional stuffing taster.
I think it’s a very good thing I’m having a low key Thanksgiving for that reason- I love me some stuffing!
I kind of love that first workout after a crazy weekend. So what if that’s when my sweat smells like wine and burns my face? It still feels so good.
Mine smells like vodka…
I hear ya – I went back to my college town for tailgating and ate and drank like I was still in college. And now I’m trying to undo all the damage by loading up on healthy foods and getting my booty into the gym. Someday I’ll learn to not totally fall off the bandwagon every weekend…
I need to not eat, for like the next three weeks if I don’t want to hate every picture from my vacation. And on that note, I’m off to the gym!
Oh hush! With the weights you’ve been lifting, you’ll be looking sexy sexy in no time!
Our candy bowl went uber quick! Good thing I guess.
I had to “sweat” out my weekend as well, tee hee. The tea switch is good for you. Hope ya liked it:)
I’ve finally admit that my weekend lessons are never learned, but lessens realized and/or admitted must count for something. They do in my book, anyway.
I go on food kicks, too. It’s been asparagus for me lately. I am also bad at keeping my healthy habits through the weekend. I had a little too much fun this past Saturday and well, Sunday was couchfest. I am hoping with no plans this weekend I can make it to the gym at least once.
I had an asparagus kick a few weeks back… :p
Mmmmmmmm……….Diet Coke………..
I never learn from my weekends. I need to jump on the Amy train and clean up my act!
I’m so streaky with food too. *(That sounds weird, but you know what I mean!)
I’m trying to make my grocery shopping match this. I end up buying 100 things, and only craving 2. haha
LOL- I love you, Couch, too!
I can’t do veggie streaks- I need a new one almost daily so it keeps me entertained.
I’m predicting that I’m going to need a similar detox next week. This all-inclusive thing that I’ve got coming my way could be danger.
I’m so glad you’re officially on the brussels sprouts bandwagon, by the way.
a detox on thankgiving week? Yikes!
I really need some healthy food and exercise in my life, but the sickness is stopping me. No workout and I’m pretty sure no grocery shopping is on the agenda for today. Hopefully I’ll at least unpack.
Brussels sprouts sound awesome right now.
Being sick is a whole different situation. I say bring on the chowda’!
I’ve been trying to drink more tea lately, too! I wish my office had Tazo Teas!
Hey Amy! I’m so excited! This totally turned my bad mood Tuesday around. What is your email address so I can send you my mailing address?
I also have food phases ALL the time – I get so obsessed with certain foods (i.e. this week is hummus) and I eat it like everyday..and then that relationship is over with! haha
I really like the black tazo tea as well – sometimes I mix it up (Exchange for Coffee) because I think it does a better job keeping me awake.
P.S. Tuesday is almost done – yay! lol
I went crazy with hummus for a while, but fell off the bandwagon! I wonder what gives?
Ahahahahah. Missed you. Please come visit. Kaycool.
I’m trying to eat healthy to gear up for the holidays, but one of my kid’s parents always sends in amazing fresh baked goods for me. Today it was reese’s cheesecake brownies.
Yeah. You read that right. And they were as ridiculously amazing as they sound.
All I can say is “oh my goodness” Daaannnnggggg….
Max just said he wants your brussels sprout combo! That will definitley be some amazing fuel! Love the costumes! You are just too cute!
ha ha! And I want his ridiculously good breakfasts!
hahaha. that is the most hilarious picture of a cat I’ve ever seen.
I hear ya. Somehow, the weekends are leaving me more whipped than the week itself. That could have, at least in part, something to do with all the traveling and/or working 6 days a week. Thanksgiving…bring it! I need you!!
Look at you all healthy with youe veggie lunch, I’m envious. My body needs veggies at this point since I’ve been chowing on road food lately. Also, Diet Coke just needs out of my life. I have been drinking waaaaaay too much of it.
I saw that comic and really wanted to use it – you earned it. The couch and the comic, that is.
Ah, brussel sprouts! My favorite! I always end up buying more bags than I need or will be able to cook before they go bad. Do you have any good recipes for them? I generally just roast them with a touch of salt and pepper but I feel like I need to do something a little more creative. Especially since I have three bags sitting around in my fridge right this moment!
Hahaha, goodness how the weekends go by way to fast and the fun ends and the workouts come back into play
I think tea for the afternoon is a good choice
Steer clear of that soda missy! LOL
xxoo
How pathetic am i – it took me until TUESDAY to recover from FRIDAY. Is this what happens when you’re old? I can’t handle it.
No magic 8 ball I will not crack you open and drink the purple drank inside!
haha =)
saw this and thought of you! MWAH! http://pinterest.com/pin/239183430179487362/
I have a problem with my obsession with diet coke. I need to drink more tea too. I love LOVE L O V E your Ninja Turtle costumes. I’ve always wanted to do that with my girlfriends. Cute
