Something New Every Day

Oh hey there.

Um… so…

Well this is awkward.

I’m usually not this quiet.

I like to talk. A lot.

But sometimes, I just have weeks where I keep to myself more than usual. Let’s call it a “live and learn” week.

Because I’m also a firm believer you learn something new every day of your life.

Well. Maybe I’ll just share with you a few things I’ve learned in the past week…

1. Swedish chocolate is amazing and can solve most problems. I haven’t pinpointed it exactly, but it must be something in the processing (or lack of) of the chocolate. Mon had brought some back for me when she got back from a business trip. It’s been decided I will require candy every time she gets back from trips like this.

Yes. Like a child would.

2. There has been a new development in half marathon training. I crossed over to the other side.

Past the treadmills. Past the ellipticals. Past the locker rooms.

To the weight machines.

This, my friends, is actually a big deal. Turns out, at 5:30 in the morning, it’s less crowded and not nearly as intimidating.

My arms still hate me for this realization.

3. When on a date in the middle of the week, remember sushi does not do a great job of soaking up all of zee vino.

4. When it’s a rest day (conveniently after said date), cross your fingers you won’t wake up at your normal time to hit the gym (5:15) with a song in your head (Flo Rida’s “Wild One”) that will not allow you to go back to sleep for another hour and a half.

Sadness.

5. Grocery shopping before work is something that should happen ALL of the time. People are in generally good moods. They’ve all had coffee and it’s before the 8 hours of their dreams and soul being crushed. Why did it take so long to realize this?

6. I need to be better about communicating how important my friends are. I know I made a lil’ shout out on the last post to my girlies near and far, but maybe I should actually say it in real life. That way, I won’t turn into an emotional puddle when people tell me they’re moving and scare the living crap out of them.

Just a thought.

7. Snooki is pregnant. I learned that is something that scares the crap out of ME.

And THAT is something new every day. Yay!

What have YOU learned recently?

  1. I feel ya on having more introspective weeks sometimes.
Yay for weights! I look forward to my lifting days more than any other workout day;)

  2. I love you too my little peanut : )

  3. Love the weights!!! Yes, you have now entered the other side! Also, isn’t it strange how friendly everyone is at the grocery store at that time. It’s kind of like you’re in another world…

  4. Sushi is evil like that. You feel so full after one roll and then 20 minutes later it’s like you never ate at all. Can’t wait to hear zee details!

  5. Snooki’s baby daddy is “an aspiring gym teacher” – when I read that I laughed for like 10 minutes straight. I just love the phrase “aspiring gym teacher.”

  6. Yah. Sushi doesn’t soak up wine at all. I’ve learned that the hard way a few times.
Snooki being pregnant . . . I don’t even know what to say. I was really hoping that was a rumor.

  7. How the hell do you manage to grocery shop before work? I can’t even manage to shower before work. And yes, what Jess said about sushi. Also beware, because I hear it is awful coming back up after too much vino.

  8. Look at you miss smarty pants! You just made me want wine and sushi… though not too much wine since I can hopefully learn from your experience.

As for the shopping before work, eh… that’s not going to happen here. I do like to get to the grocery store right at 8 a.m. though on Sunday. Less crowds. Fresh pick of produce. Better all-around shopping experience.

  9. Luckily I live next door to the grocery store, and I go there quite frequently before work. And during and after, but hey, a girl’s gotta eat. I have therefore developed a keen awareness of the best and worst times to go. Right about nowish is the best (9:30).

    Hmmm….I am out of chocolate…

  10. I’m totally with you on the keeping to yourself thing.. sometimes a girl needs a little me time!!
I have learned… that I am SUPER independent. Oh, and a little stubborn. Just a little..

  11. I still haven’t heard the deets on this Snooki thing. Is it her bf’s or some random dude. I really hope it’s not the Situation’s, but I’m guessing if it was the news would be making a bigger deal of it.

  12. Hahaha Amy you crack me up.

First of all, I want some chocolate now. Thanks for that.

Secondly, sushi doesn’t soak up wine very well. What I learned was that neither does yogurt. Dinner of yogurt prior to a wine festival = dangerous (in a hilarious way).

Third(ly) I want to know if snookie will have a spin off baby show.

  13. I’d go ahead and say that pretty much all European chocolate is pretty amazing. Fun fact: when I vacationed in Scandinavia with my parents back in college I had hot chocolate instead of coffee with breakfast every. single. morning. It was completely amazing.

  14. Ahhhhh hahhaha!!! I love #3!!! You crack my ass up,girl!! Hahaha!!

    xxoo

  15. I learned that my stomach IS as big as my eyes are. And THAT is why I’m not losing my pregnancy weight :-P

  16. So…how was the date?

  17. Might there have been some saki involved in said sushi date? Cuz that stuff is dangerous!

  18. haha thank you for bringing light to my day. This post is hilarious. Especially the last lesson. I am officially scared for this child. It’s not even born yet and it’s already screwed. Poor thing.

Totally agree with you on the grocery stores in the AM lesson. One thing I love about working night shift is I dont deal with annoying and crabby 9-5 people (no offense to anyone who I have just described)..usually everyone in the am is really nice and polite. Shocking, I know.

  19. Grocery store…in the morning? What madness is that?

Although, I’ve been to the grocery store in the middle of the day. Me and all the retirees. It’s pretty awesome.

  20. The great thing about Snooki being pregnant is that very soon I am going to look like mother of the year. No joke – I am thrilled!!

Grocery stores are fantastically empty in the morning. Especially Sunday morning. Best time to go.

  21. I’ve learned that I still love Snooki, pregnant or not. #fistpump for life! :)
Grocery stores are the bomb in the morning. In and out in no time!
