Is it just me or has it been a slow work week? Let’s blame the rainy weather. Because, let’s face it, we can blame everything on the weather somehow or another. Think about it.
At least there are a few things I’ve got going on that keep me slightly upbeat. Which isn’t hard. I’m excitable over the littlest things:
1. The schedule of the rain. It’s been conveniently starting after my commute home and ending before my early morning walk to the gym. That means I’ve only noticed how much it’s helped me sleep through the night. I never have this kind of luck.
2. Our boss took staff (three of us) out for lunch this week as a form of Staff Appreciation Day from last week. Which means free lunch that doesn’t consist of salad or deli. As a girl of serious deli/salad routine during the work week, that’s a welcome change.
3. My plate at lunch being so big that I stuffed myself and still had plenty leftover for dinner.
I did add a few more roasted veggies to the side of my salmon that were laying around for extra bulk. Then gave myself a pat on the back for being healthy and well-rounded. What? Do you not have roasted brussels sprouts just hanging around in the refrigerator at any given time?
That’s weird.
4. My morning workout motivation has not failed me yet. To be truthful, Tuesday was a little iffy (damn Tuesdays), but since my roommate swore up and down she would get up that day, I had no choice but to go. And didn’t regret it once I got there. Every other day? Jumping up with the alarm.
5. Colored skinny jeans. Considering how apprehensive I was about skinny jeans when they first came out, it’s hilarious I can’t stop buying them in every shade under the sun.
Ok fine, “every shade” is actually just two pair. On sale. At Target. Mint green and sky blue. They’re so bright and fun and give me the urge to do cartwheels.
Oh… that’s just me again? Crap.
6. God Bless “Candy Wednesday”.
Because if there is anything from this list that will get me through the slow-moving week, that would be it.
Refer to #3 to discuss the importance of a “well-rounded” diet.
7. After being sad about not being able to track down the 50 Shades trilogy, a friend helped me out and let me borrow all three! With the help of my rest weekend, I’ve been able to almost finish all three of the poorly written yet addicting trashy romance novels. And my opinion is just that. Poorly written. But an addicting storyline.
There’s a good chance this may be one of those rare cases where the movie that is supposedly in the works may actually be better than the book…
Anyhoo, that’s all I’ve got for you this Thursday morning. Let’s get to it!

Those Target skinny jeans made me almost kill myself because they ran SO SMALL. I pretty much threw them at the rack and walked away defeated. I don’t think Target was ready for this jelly.
What is going on with Target’s sizes lately?! Nothing fits me. I saw a pair of shorts I liked but even the biggest size on the rack wouldn’t fit up one of my thighs. Get it together Target!
I’m gonna jump on the target bashing, too. Such cute clothes, but even like, an 11 won’t go past my knees. Everywhere else I’m a 4-6. Bastards.
i’m really short and can sometimes fit into kid’s sizes. i’m in a 5 in target jeans and was considering a 7. they’re also super-thin. i really shouldn’t have to consider the pattern on my undies before i put on bright fuschia jeans, but i do.
I agree with Jessica, target jeans run SO FREAKING SMALL. What is the deal?! it’s like XXI. Anyways.
Free lunch = awesome. I love the change in routine.
I’ve been trying to do morning workouts more often too! I did Jillian’s Power Yoga dvd yesterday morning before work and my arms are SO sore today!
I want more colored skinny jeans! I love my coral ones, and they are sooo comfy. Maybe i’ll buy some online today… sigh.
Free lunches are always a bonus to the week! I can’t get into the skinny jeans thing. You look super cute in them though!
I’m totally jumping on the colored skinny jeans/pants bandwagon right now, but I hate the inconsistent sizing! I was trying on normal skinny jeans at Old Navy the other day, and then tried on a pair of “super skinny” colorful jeans, and went UP a size, and they were too tight. And they didn’t have the next size up. I get that they are skinnier, but my butt doesn’t get smaller just because the fit is tighter. Why is women’s clothes sizing so difficult!
Those books are now intriguing me. When I am done with this crazy leadership class I am taking (which I have to read 30 freaking books for), I am reading only trash for a decade.
I am loving the coloured skinny jeans right now too! I will have to look at Target when we are in the states next month.
I am reading the 50 Shades books too – I will agree trashy but yet addicting.
I’m 1/4 way through the third one and the race is on to finish before you all get here. I don’t want to be distracted, you know.
I get free lunch today. Pretty excited about it!
Ewww, they’re talking about making a movie? I have a feeling that’s just not something I need to see. I think the colored jeans trend is one that I’m going to have to pass on…as well as the skinny jeans. They’re just not appropriate with the amount of, ahem, curves I’ve got on my lower half. I don’t want to subject the world to that.
I’ve been coveting colored skinny jeans for awhile and think I may buy a few pairs online today…where are you finding yours?
I think I need to get those books. Poorly written AND trashy? Sounds perfect.
I would love some skinny jeans in mint blue and lilac!!
I have my eye on these teal colored jeans at AE for a while now…i just need them to go on sale..or find a coupon first
I’ll have to check out Target
No color jeans for me…I did that “trend” in middle school – so it’s funny to see them make a comeback!
Love the roasted brussel sprouts hanging in the fridge.
I got up to go to early Spin this AM and so glad I did—I have the whole day ahead of me!
Way to knock out those workouts. This week has been really slow for me too, but I blame it on the nice weather. It’s gorgeous here, and it makes me want to be outside reading, boating, or doing just about anything but sitting here in my cubicle.
I agree on the slow work week. Very unproductive and full of procrastination. I blame the weather, also! I am not a fan of the soggy mornings. I am glad, though, that it’s been raining only at night here, too.
I’m hoping my plans of attending the first farmer’s market in my neighborhood don’t get botched by this ugly weather tonight!
i, too have fallen for the colored skinnies. i have a pair from target (3 sizes bigger than usual!) in fuschia and a more expensive pair my mom bought for me as a “moving away and i miss you already” gift. those are teal. i love them. they feel so spring-like!
i need to find the right shade of mint, it looks so good on other people but so far every time i try on a mint-esque pair i look seasick.
and your candy and tea pic inspired me to have some candy. and some tea. but mostly candy.
Somehow this week is going by quickly for me! Last week dragged on, though.
I haven’t jumped on the colored skinnies, but I’m tempted every single time I go to Target!
I really need to get my hands on some colorful skinny jeans. Target here I come.
I cant wait until my roommate finishes the book so I can see how horribly written it is.
This week has flown by for me and I’m loving it. Maybe because I’ve stuff to do every night? I’m pooped.
I’m halfway through book two and your analysis is dead on. Poorly written but addicting. I have so many thoughts…..once we’re all finished I may start up an email book club with you, Kacy, and Jess haha. I need to vent a bit!
Do we get to see the colored jeans in a photo? LOL at everyone complaining about Target’s sizing! I will have to watch out for that!
Yes. This HAS been the slowest week ever UGHGHHGHGHG
I have a love/hate relationship with colored skinny pants. They make me nostalgic for middle school – most likely because I owned like a dozen pair then. Nowadays I love them on everyone else, but on me not so much.
I have too many pair of colored skinny jeans already, but I want a mint green pair SO BAD!!!
I’m so glad it’s Friday. Enjoy your weekend!
