Hey peeps!
I’m a little late to the game, but how was your weekend?
As expected, my weekend of downtime and relaxation was anything but. Then again, after getting some pretty exciting news, it seemed only right to go celebrate a little, right?
A few of my gal pals came together on Saturday night (so there was that Friday night spent on the couch like planned- semi success!) for a nice dinner out at Tango Sur- an Argentinian BYOB steakhouse in the Lakeview neighborhood. I’d only heard good things about this place, so there were high expectations.
Well… the only negatives I heard were that you should expect a wait and you may walk out of the restaurant smelling of garlic.

Our wait was super short. Hooray! But don’t let that fool you… after we were seated, we started to hear the wait time climbed up to 2 hours!
And both of those things only validate their original claims- the food is good, yo.

Pechugo De Pollo- grilled chicken and veggies accompanied with a side of chimichurri. If you’ve never had chimichurri, you should fix that problem. There’s a lot of garlic involved, but I promise it’s worth not kissing your significant other for a week. Promise.
I’m aware it’s a steakhouse, and a good portion of their menu is red meat, but I still opted for chicken. Weird. I know.
It goes best with white wine, anyway.
Plus, we dined al fresco. So the smelling of garlic wasn’t an issue. Lucky for the boys we met later on in the night, am I right?
After a week of 40-degree swings in weather, it turned out to be a beautiful night. With good food and wine that flowed all too freely.
The rest of the night was spent dancing in spaces that probably weren’t meant for dancing and sleeping in (relatively speaking), followed by a lazy Sunday of walking around downtown to stretch out the limbs and cancel out a bit of those honey BBQ fritos we took down at 2:00 in the morning.
I’m still a little mortified about that minor frito detail.
Oh wait…
Did I not tell you why we were celebrating?
I guess I can now.
After almost 4 years at the same company, I’ve accepted a position elsewhere. I’ll be doing some of the same things and some new things, but in a completely different industry.
Putting in my two weeks was difficult. Bittersweet. I’m very much excited about the new position/company. But it’s a very sad thing to leave the first and only job I’ve had since moving to Chicago. The small staff I work with is extremely close. My coworker Jaime took me in like a sister- showing me the ropes of the job and the city, while giving me a family to fall back on when I needed it.
I look forward to what the future holds in my new endeavor. I promise to still be “here” on the blog regularly, but please be patient with the new schedule I’ll surely acquire.
Remember- “Randomness” is in the title for a reason. It covers my butt during times like these.
Now let’s go celebrate some more, shall we?

After a long Sunday, we treated ourselves to frozen treats at a Forever Yogurt. Being as how I don’t like fruit and am obsessed with chocolate, we can all easily figure out which cup is mine. Although I’m not quite sure why I passed on the melted marshmallow that Mon ended up getting…
Laters!

Congrats on the new job! I totally felt bittersweet leaving my job that I’d been at for 3 years, but life is full of changes. I’ve never had chimchurri, but if it involves copius amounts of garlic- that sounds right up my alley!
Congrats! That’s great news! I hope you love it… well, as much as a person can love work, that is.
Cheers!
I am so incredibly excited for you! I know change is a bit scary and sad sometimes, but new adventures are always a great thing! As for garlic love, I am a huge lover of garlic! I am so lucky that Tony loves it as much as I do! Garlic lovers must unite!
Congratulations on the new job! I know you will do great in whatever you do!!!
“All good things…” come to those who take chances, right? Or so I’m told. Personally, I’m going to go with “All good things…come with garlic.” Yes, let’s go with that.
But big huge congrats! That’s very exciting and most certainly worthy of celebration! (Hence the exclamation points.)
All good things should come with garlic. I like where your head is at.
so excited for you! I’m going to go ahead and say it was totally the good vibes I sent you. So, you’re welcome…
jk, you’re awesome and will be GREAT!
Couldn’t have done it without you!
That’s possibly true. xoxo
I am so happy the weather cooperated for your celebration! Congrats! So excited for you!
Congrats, Amy!!! Very exciting news…so happy for you!
Congrats girl! That’s awesome
BTW, love the turquoise pants — where from?
Target! Can you believe it?!?!
However, be prepared to go up a size or two when trying them on. You’ve been warned.
Congrats on the new job! Yay
good things are to come I’m sure
Congrats on a new job!! I love the feeling of stability, sure, but there is just something exciting and unknown and…exciting about a new job. Whatever it is, you are going to kill it!s
The lack of stability in my life right now does make me nervous. But it’s a good scared!
Congrats Amy!!! That’s so exciting!! (Also, I think stuff like this is hard to blog about sometimes, because I know we all have to be kind of private about our work lives, haha) But I hope it’s fantastic! I’m sure you’ll be great!
Congrats on the job! That’s so exciting, and definitely worth some celebration.
And ummm . . . Fritos at 2am is way better than the massive bottle of wine I took down at approximately the same time. By myself. It was pretty shameful.
We won’t discuss the bottle of wine or two or three we had beforehand then…
Congrats on your new position! I hope this means you won’t have to sit in horrible traffic anymore!
I won’t! Instead, I’ll be pressed up against strangers in the el!
oooh congrats on your new job!! That’s awesome. Four years at the same company is a long time! I bet you’ll love doing something different at a new place. Also, I’ve never had chimichurri… hmm
Yay – congrats!!! Good for you!
And I love the blue skinnies – cute!
Sooo exciting! Also, I’m really digging your light blue pants.
You have a good eye, my Target-loving friend. Their skinnies are my fav!
Congrats on the new job!!! Very exciting and definitely deserving of celebrations!
Congrats on the new gig – well deserved!! Change is good:)
And reason a million why Chicago is amazing, that restaurant looks delish – and two hours must mean it’s incredible.
Tell those Fritos they were celebratory:)
Soooo happy for you! Good things are definitely on the horizon. You deserved those Fritos.
Congrats on the new job!
Congrats on the new job!!! Very exciting – I was with my old job for 31/2 years. It is weird to change at first but I haven’t looked back since!
Congrats on the new job! How cool! Will you still be downtown?
I will! In the Loop! I feel so stylish.
Congrats, girl! So proud of your big move! You’ll be a rock star!
Congrats!!!! I know you’ve been looking for a while, so I’m glad something came up. Can’t wait to hear all about it on here!
Congratulations! I’m looking forward to hearing more details about the new gig.
hahaha, I was going to say that I hoped the cup on the right was yours.
that’s my girl.
Fruit does NOT belong in dessert. Period. :p
congrats on the new job!
Congrats on the new job! Big changes like that are always elicit so many different emotions but regardless, it’s an exciting life change! I wish you the very very best
Congrats on the new job!! And some times rest days are over rated, you got one in so that’s a plus. And really, how could you not go out and celebrate a new job?
Sad day, I feel like my little sister is leaving for college and she’s gonna forget all about me *sticks out lower lip in pouty mode*. Though Michelle didn’t ever say she loved me till she actually left for college. Bigger, brighter, better things, my sister.

Yay for the new job! I started at a new place last fall. The change does bring on an air of excitement! Congrats and good luck with what’s ahead!
Congratulations!! I just started a new role (at the same company) but the change is nice.
I took down 2am McDonalds on the weekend so no judging from me!
Congratulations!! That is super exciting.
Yes, change is always a little hard but it usually brings better things!
Good luck in the new job.
And by all means, I think a 2am snacking is only indication of a proper celebration!
Just catching up now, congratulations on the new position, what an exciting time for you
Congrats on the new job!!
Catching up finally! CONGRATS!!! The new gig is in Chicago, too? PLEASE say yes!!
yes!
I have finally broken into the world of health and wellness and could not be more excited! And my gig is downtown (vs the commute to an office near the airport).
life is about to get really interesting.
I hope your move goes well! And I’m excited for you to have less rushed visits to the city… I see a lunch date in our near future.
