A Little Less Boring

My lunches are often boring. I often eat the same things. In the same places.

Boring.

Sometimes, a few of us girls at work take a 30-minute walk around the area. But that’s only once or twice a week.

The rest of the time? Boring.

But yesterday, I had a lunch date!

Fountains are fun!

The lovely Kim and I toted our boring lunches to Chase Plaza, a nearby outdoor destination, to chit chat and enjoy the sun (and lack of humidity- thank goodness).

Turkey sandwich and veggies. Soooooo boring. But good. But boring. Sigh…

We may not be able to meet up for our Tuesday runs anymore, but this is the next best thing!A lot of the conversation revolved around the ZOOMA Great Lakes Half Marathon, which we’re doing together as ambassadors.

Also, if you’re considering running the race or are interested in finding out more about the series, come party with us next week!!

Fleet Feet has been wonderful enough to host the kick-off party next Thursday. I’ll be there along with a few of the other ambassadors. And we wanna meet you! Or at least I do. I can’t speak for the other ladies. But they seem nice. So I assume they do, too. ;)

Anyway, because I have friends who are most likely getting to my house before I do tonight, I must rush off and throw my mess into a closet do some last minute tidying before heading to work.

Happy Friday!

Because I need ideas- What have you been eating for lunch recently?

  1. Your lunch date sounds fun! If the weather cooperates, me and a coworker go for a half hour walk at lunch and I love it. Not only does it get me away from my computer and break up the day, but we can chat. Unfortunately, it’s been too damn hot the past week for that. Super sucky.

As for lunch, I almost always bring the same thing because it’s easy and takes minimal effort–a big container of brown rice, chickpeas, asparagus, garlic and Earth Balance. About 30 seconds in the microwave and it’s done.

  2. Ah, break from the norm. That’s way better than eating at your desk:) I love tuna sandwiches, turkey sandwiches, and even the classic pb&j. boring, not that I’ve said it, lol.

My very first race was a ZOOMA and glad to see you’re supporting them – nice work!

    Have a great weekend!

  3. I need to get back to making my own lunches. I’ve been eating the bland-awful-craptacular soup in the caf and I am sick of it! I love your sunglasses, btw!!!

  4. I used to go to that plaza for lunch dates all the time.
Lately I’ve been shakin’ it up a bit with berries and Greek yogurt + a few snacks (pretz, apple, etc).

  5. My usual lunches are salads, leftovers from the night before, or whatever odds and ends I have. That usually consists of yogurt, hard boiled eggs, apples, string cheese, etc.

    Have a great weekend!

  6. I’m a boring girl at lunch too! Salads everyday for this girl. I change up the toppings, but it’s still a salad no matter what I do to it.

  7. That’s a fun place to eat! I just disovered Protein Bar, a healthy fast food place that has a bunch of locations in the loop. The food trucks are a fun option as well.

  8. I eat some crazy cool stuff for lunch. You know like… turkey wraps and salads. Clearly I’m no help. But a change in location is always nice!

  9. I’m a steady salad-eater. That way I can save up my calories for booze later in the day.

  10. Glad you got out and enjoyed the weather! Sitting in the office on nice days is no fun. I’ve been making a bunch of roasted vegetables and some kind of protein and then putting it on a bed of spinach lately- not that interesting, but it gets the job done. :)

  11. I’m bummed I couldn’t join you guys for lunch yesterday! But, speaking of lunches, here’s some of my favorites recently:

    1. 1 hard boiled egg mashed together with half of an avocado and some dijon mustard spread on a wrap with sliced tomatoes. Alternately, swap out the egg for some hummus. Pair with an apple and some sugar snap peas and you’re good to go.

    2. Based on my favorite lunch box from Starbucks (the Protein one) I grab a hard boiled egg (I buy eggs on the weekend and hard boil them ahead of time), some fruit, a piece of cheese, some crackers, and some peanut butter.

    3. Turkey with roasted red peppers (from a jar) and goat cheese in a wrap. YUM!

  12. I LOVE Lunch dates .They totally break up the work day. Even if I’m just having lunch with a co-worker in another building, it makes my brain happy :)

  13. I love lunch dates. They make the day so much better.

My lunches are boring too. They almost always consist of some type of salad (but to be fair, I make kick ass salads) except for fridays. By friday I’m out of lettuce, so it’s usually lettuce, or a random mix of couscous and whatever veggies I have in the fridge. It can get pretty crazy. :)

  14. I eat the same thing everyday too. Lately it’s been chicken gyros. I buy a roasted chicken at the store and shred it, then use flat out fold its (rosmary herb), tzaziki sauce, feta, lettuce, tomato, and red onion. They’re actually incredibly delicious. With my daily serving of applesauce on the side!

  15. I eat the same things all the time. If it ain’t broke, why mess with it?

  16. I got in a lunch rut at least once a week. I find what works well for me is bringing leftovers from dinner. They seem to be more exciting than just a sandwich. I don’t seem to mind if I have more simple dinners a couple times during the week like a salad.

  17. Eating outside makes lunch less boring! Lunch during the summer is tricky because it’s so dang hooot. I like cooking up chicken sausage with onions and other veggies.

  18. My lunch time is totally boring too. We don’t have lunch rooms or anything so everyone just eats in their offices – not fun at all! I love it when I get company for lunch instead!

  19. I am like the queen of the turkey sandwich. I do love leftovers for lunch though- definitely a little more exciting.

  20. I don’t really have any good lunch ideas, but heading outside to eat is definitely a nice break from routine. Especially when the weather cooperates.

  21. lunch dates are the best! they definitely change the pace of a “typical” day!

  22. So happy we got to meet up! Can’t wait to do it again and again and again… especially when it gets cooler :)

For lunch I usually just bring leftovers from home. I am cranky when I don’t have any! Then I usually hit up Native Foods. :)
