Because pictures supposedly say 1000 words, and I’m not feeling super chatty, here’s some fun stuff that came off of my phone as of late.
I was sitting on the train, reading and minding my own business, when all of a sudden it felt like something hit my sunglasses. I look up an a lens falls out. After inspection, I realize it’s the EXACT same thing that happened a few months ago. The frames cracked. Just like that.
Seriously H&M – pull yourself together.
Want to hear about another rip?
Stupid Nature Valley Granola Thins. You entice me with the chocolate. And the sale at Walgreens (I should have known). But the package is misleading. The fantastic treat I’m expecting when opening it is drastically smaller than the packaging and way thinner than the normal Nature Valley granola bars. The chocolate sticks to the cardboard it’s on. Crumbs fly everywhere before it’s even out of the package.
If there are mice in this office, my desk is where they party all night.
A disaster on all levels that leaves me hungrier than I was before. Dislike.
My happy hour plans involving pizza and beer were cancelled earlier this week (oops- that was a dislike, too), but I was comforted by pasta.
It’s white pasta that has been hanging out in my house for some time now (the box is never-ending) , and even though whole wheat texture is preferred, it was fine because I overloaded it with brussels and mushrooms and red sauce. I also added chipotle seasoning to give it a smoky flavor. For added sassiness. A pleasant “win”.
A pleasant surprise would be the massive box of goodness I received from Chobani this week!

I was unfortunately not able to make a dinner they held for some of the Chicago bloggers last month, however, they still insisted on sending me fun Olympic-themed goodies!
My favorite part? Other than the coupons for free food, I am absolutely in love with the beach bag that has speakers built-in. You know what I’ll be rockin’ out with in the upcoming weeks along Lake Michigan! Holla’!
I just started “If You Were Here” this week. So far it’s ok. But being as how it’s “loosely” based on things that have happened to her, and she’s changing names of places in the Chicagoland area that I know of, it has me all confused. I love every single one of her memoirs she’s written (that I’ve read- there’s one I haven’t gotten to yet). This novel? I’m underwhelmed so far.
However, I will continue to read it because I not-so-secretly want to be Jen Lancaster’s BFF. CALL ME, JEN!
And there you have it in this episode of “pics from my phone that my friends sometimes flip through and call me weird for”.
You’re welcome.
Happy weekend!

I don’t know why but when you said “never ending” the “song that never ends” popped into my head. Just wanted to return the favor : )
Happy Friday!
Not cool, Kace. NOT COOL.
I heard that about her novel too…which is sad because I love her!
damn it!! i wanted those granola thins to be good! ugh.
Oh… they’re good. But you’ll need pretty much the whole box to satisfy a craving.
I was incredibly disappointed by the Granola thins too!! I seriously thought a it was the portion for a toddler…
Even a toddler would be angry… lol
What??! I want a beach bag with speakers!!! For all those times I go to the beach…. yeah, never mind. It’s still cool though.
Well… it’d be good for starting random dance parties. On the bus. At the mall. In the break room… you’d be a hit!
I’ve been wanting to read that book. Hopefully it gets better and you decide you like it, because then I’ll feel much better about going out and spending money on another book.
I wouldn’t buy it. But I’d probably still say go check it out at the library if you’re low on choices. I’m still going to finish it bc I love her so…
Your pasta dish looks amazing. I am totally going to Pin that puppy.
I like some of Jen Lancaster’s stuff and other times I can’t stand her. She is 95% hilarious, though.
Yay!
Yes, she gets a little full of herself from time to time, but she always knocks herself down a few notches on the next page. I think that’s why I like it.
I feel your sunglasses pain. The lens of my sunglasses fell out at mile two of the RnR half a few weeks ago. Not.fun.
Major bummer. Even if it’s raining, I’m wearing shades when I run.
All of Nature’s Valley’s packaging is like that. So frustrating to get open and then it’s all a crumbly mess. You always make me want to read more…I never make the time for it.
I hope you have a great weekend my friend!
Oh granola thins…I have been resisting these FOREVER and now I am glad I am not missing anything. The Nature Valley granola bars (the ones in the green package) will always be my favorite. Those little 2 pack bars got me through many a class in college.
YES! I still love those. But they’re just so messy…
I sound like such an adult. How did that happen?
Thanks for the warning on the granola thin. Chocolate would have caught my eye too. Of course, this made me think of the f****ing crumbs everywhere image. Funny… http://twicsy.com/i/euGgP Have a great weekend!
Happy Weekend! I’m glad I’m not the only one who a) thinks mice/cockroaches will party at their desk over the weekend and b) those stupid granola thins were a tease. Totally enticed by the “thins” (healthy snack) and the “chocoate” (decadent part of healthy snack) but these things are little mofos.
I need to get Jen’s new book but am too cheap to buy it full price. Amazon here I come! I didn’t like If You Were Here at first but as soon as I accepted it was really non fiction but with different names, I got into it.
Those graham cracker things rock my world!
I have unfortunately been disappointed with every one of Jen’s books since Bitter is the New Black. Not sure why none of the other stuff she’s written has captured her sarcasm as well as the first? Disappointing.
And Nature Valley? I agree. Get your packaging together. My husband eats your bars and i find the crumbs everywhere. Of course he’s partially to blame but for once not fully…
Have a great Sunday Amy!
I’ve never read any of Jen Lancaster’s books. I think I may be missing out on something.
I’ve had several traumatic sunglasses breakings too. The worst was during a sneeze, when they basically exploded and flew across the bar. I got some great looks. People thought I’d just set off a bomb or something.
