As mentioned before, my roommate and I get along pretty well.
We’re pretty mellow and easy-going. Goofy. And often try to keep things light- not taking much too seriously.
And then football season rolls around.
She has no issues with my college football team. She went to a smaller school that doesn’t celebrate the glory of football Saturdays at anything near the level I’ve grown up with (GO MIZZOU).
But NFL? Well. We agree to disagree. To the extreme.
What a disaster.
However, I try not to judge the poor team choices of others (yes, it’s a low blow but this is my blog and I’ll do what I wanna) and work to find a common ground.
We both like football. We both like food. We both like beer. We both like unwinding on the occasional Thursday night.
There was no other choice.
Thirsty Thursday!!!!
Because we all need a little shake up in the routine, yes?
On the mission to try something new, we checked out Schoolyard Tavern- a Lakeview neighborhood spot.
$5 stadium cups are something a fan from any team can get behind.
Finally tried fish tacos, ya’ll. One grilled tilapia and one grilled shrimp. The chicken taco was purposely ordered because it seemed to be the best one on the menu that would work as leftovers the next day.
Because I always think ahead.
And after a Bears loss like that, at least I’ve got something from last night to smile about.
Alright, kids. It’s Friday. And you know what that means.
Let’s buckle down and get through it. Happy weekend!
What teams are you cheering for this weekend?

Fish tacos for the win! Delish!
I’m a Browns fan by default. My dad would disown me if I cheered for anyone else.
I’m cheering for Clemson and Tennessee. I just have such a hard time getting into NFL. However, I’d totally be down for stadium cups n’ tacos no matter who’s playing!
Have a great weekend.
cheering for Clemson too!
Ahhh I want shrimp tacos today! I’m cheering for Clemson, woo!
I never tried fish tacos when I ate meat, but I know so many people who are obsessed with them!
We are not a sports household, but we have friends/family who like Packers and the Chiefs. We stay out of it
Well you know I bleed green and white, but I have mad respect for the Bears. Partially bc my bff’s husband is a Bears fan so I watch a lot of their games, but also because they’re not in my division and therefor acceptable
I’m probably the most anti-sports person ever. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t because other people make it sound like so much fun, but I have such a hard time following anything that’s going on. I’m just too easily distracted.
Ugh, I don’t even want to revisit that game last night. It was brutal! At least you got some good food out of it.
The Bears are my fantasy defense, and I have Matt Forte on my team so I’ll be rooting for them all season. Plus the SIL would kill me if I didn’t. I’m also trying to get behind the Skins as well. It’s a slow process. OU has a bye this weekend, so I won’t be footballing as much as usual. Sad.
My husband is a Packers fan. My “compromise” is to not cheer against the Packers. I won’t cheer FOR them, I just won’t cheer against them. Except for Bears-Packers game. Obviously that is an exception. (And there is no legitimate reason for him to be a Packers fan. We were both born and raised in the Chicago south suburbs.)
Also, I’m not really a big football fan, so honestly I don’t really care. Plus Aaron Rodgers is really cute. But I pretend to care because 99% of my friends are all OMG DA BEARZ fans.
University of Georgia baby!!! And I’m liking the idea of Thirsty Thursday…I could get behind that. Have a great weekend!
I am no a sports fan at all unless I’m at the game. Then I can get behind whatever team is playing. I love that you two have a little sports fan rivalry going on…keeps things interesting since you both like the sport! Otherwise, one of you would be horribly bored by the whole season!
You may hate me after I tell you this…but I’m a Packers fan…
::runs and hides::
I love the Schoolyard Tavern for nights just like the one you described! So sad about the Bears loss
Grrrrrr. Darn Cheeseheads!
I like how you just snuck in a short little line about how THE BEARS LOST TO THE PACKERS. How many times did your boy get sacked? I can’t remember….it was a couple, wasn’t it?
My roommate and I are the exact same way. He loves the Patriots (ew) and I’m a Steelers girl born & raised. BUT we both love beer. and food. and football, which leads to many Sunday Fundays
