It was bound to happen

My throat was a little itchy this week.

Which is hilarious, really.

Because I have no time to get sick.

Like none.

Not that anyone really does, but you understand, right?

It could be all the travel weekends. Or maybe the public transit every day. Or my long hours/deadlines wearing me down. Or an office full of people in a competition to see who can hack up a lung first.

I swear it’s going to be the guy in the cube near me who’s going to win that one.

Anyway, this is somewhat disappointing because I was just discussing how I rarely get sick. Even head colds don’t happen but maybe once a year. So let’s hope that’s what this is and I’m just getting it out of the way early.

However, I’m fully aware that my time is up to get an evil round of the flu. It usually happens ever 3-4 years and it’s been over 4. My time is up.

Mental note: stock up on meds soon.

Anyway, luckily today I woke up a little less stabby. I guess the few days of skipping the gym to sleep longer and chugging green tea have helped.

Green tea and kit kats. The cure-all for everything.

Here’s hoping I’m 100% recovered by tomorrow.

It is the weekend, after all.

Happy Friday, kids!

  1. Ahh, feel better sweets! Chocolate makes everything better.

I have to get a flu shot this year, absolutely dreading it. bleck!

  2. And not just any Kit Kat…the white chocolate one, which is obvi the best. I guess the tea is good too.

  3. Feel better! I’ve found that copious amounts of cookie dough seem to help with colds. Worth a shot. :)
    Have a good weekend!

  4. I said the same thing last week, but everyone at work was hacking all over the place. I had the attractive cough and runny nose/itchy eyes for a couple days, but lots of sleep and good food/tea knocked it out pretty quick. Get well soon!

  5. As long as it’s this weekend… and not NEXT weekend, right?!?!!

Seriously though, hope you feel better STAT! I was amazed at how long I had gone w/o getting sick, then a little kid got me sick. And it suuuuuucked.

  6. I can pretty much count on the fact that after saying I never get sick, I will get sick! Hope you feel better SOON!

  7. It sucks when you can actually see it coming! I’m a freak for wiping things off constantly because I DON’T want to get sick! My kids are definitely germ factories when they get home from school too. So, between the gym, the store and the two different schools the kids attend…I feel doomed during this season! I hope you feel better soon!

  8. Good luck not getting full-blown sick. After all, you’ve gotta be well for that date of yours. (I was going to say “hot date,” but I’m not sure if a museum date qualifies??? jk)

  9. If you read this today on msnbc: “Recent estimates reveal that Neanderthal DNA makes up 1 percent to 4 percent of modern Eurasian genomes, perhaps endowing some people with the robust immune systems they enjoy today.” you may think twice about not wanting to be sick. Being sick means your ancestors most likely didn’t hook up with Neanderthal’s. – Just broadening your horizens today Baxsy. – Mon.

  10. Mmmm, white kit kats are THE best! Behind Twix, of course!

  11. Feel better friend! The flu is terrible. I refuse to let you have that. You’re welcome.

  12. I got hit with a cold this week too- it’s going around chick! Drink up that tea and hold on tight!

  13. my cure for everything is m&ms. i like your style. feel better soon and get your ass some wine tonight!

  14. Hope you feel better! ‘Tis the season I suppose…get lots of rest!

  15. Hope you’re on the mend! As tough as it is to drink, Theraflu works like a charm. And it’ll put you into a Theraflu induced sleep for hours.

  16. HOW do you avoid getting sick every year? I always seem to catch whatever is going around…

    Feel better!!

  17. hope you’re feeling better! I hate that feeling when you can feel a cold coming on but are too late to stop it.

  18. Green tea really does make me feel better! Placebo effect I guess? Who knows…who cares. Hope you are feeling better now!
