Because You Requested It

Or because one person did.

I’m looking at you, Tiff.

But, after poking fun at a few certain search terms to get to my blog on Wednesday, I decided we’re due to analyze a few of the better ones.

Come join me!

1. “Ryan Gosling Eating Ice Cream”

Ok. So I understand I’ve posted a few times about Ryan Gosling. So I often get the “hey girl” search terms. But eating ice cream? Is there something erotic about this that I’m missing? Because I’ve gotten this one quite a few times.

(Source)

I don’t get it?

2. “What’s worse- marshmallow fluff or mcdonalds?”

In my humble opinion, that is like comparing apples to oranges. And, again in my humble opinion, they are both awesome. However, if you’re considering dinner, please don’t go solely with the fluff. Please.

And maybe throw in a McSalad.

3. “I don’t have a drinking problem.”

I don’t either! Congrats to us both!

4. “I’m a person who likes to spend time”

…? You gonna finish that thought? Spend time doing what? With your family? Napping? Taking long walks on the beach? Staring at the stars on a warm summer night? You’re so vague and mysterious! And frustrating! Clearly I’m attracted to you now. Call me maybe?

5. “Scabies Fun”

Last time I checked, scabies was not fun. From what I’ve heard, it’s actually quite unpleasant. Maybe you need to google this one some more.

6. “Moist Baked Oatmeal”

Alright, buddy. If I promise to give you the recipe for baked oatmeal that I’ve used in the past, would you never say that other word again? You’re grossing me out.

Please and thank you.

Click HERE for the recipe link.

7. “Need to go to the store but I already took my bra off.”

I hear ya, sister. My advice? Wait until tomorrow.

8. “Jason Segel”

This is no surprise. I talk about how awesomely sexy he is on the regular. I’m just waiting for him to google his own name and stumble across my humble blog.

Call me DEFINITELY.

So there ya go, kids. Some mindless reading for the start of your extended weekend.

And wait- I’m not done yet. Here’s something pretty to look at (other than Ryan Gosling):Ooohhhhh…aaaahhhhhhh.

Stumbled across some pretty sidewalk art on a walk the other day. Another reason why I love spring- everything just becomes more cheery…

Speaking of cheery, I’m super excited to be packed and am counting down the hours until it’s time to leave the office and jump on the first train outta the Chi!

Laters, kids! Have a good Memorial Day Weekend!!

Spazztastic

Because I’m just sort of spazzing…

- Google search term used to get to my blog that totally freaked me out? “Office Girl Feet”.  Foot fetish, anyone?

- My favorite alternative rock station went off the air. Granted, I don’t need a daily fix of Nine Inch Nails (although in rush hour it is helpful), but the constant overload of U2 and Bon Jovi is starting to make me batty. Calling all Chicago kids for rock stations I’m unaware of- help a sister out!

- On the topic of music, I happen to love the new Britney song “I Wanna Go” (weird how  Nine Inch Nails was just being discussed, right?). And I will stand by that statement. Pretty sure it’s that catchy newfangled auto tune that keeps the station from being changed.

- I get to visit the HOME ALONE house soon! You know what that means- my brother (and the rest of my fam) must be coming soon. I refused to go see it without the lil’ bro. And it’s been killing me. 2 weeks. Woot woot!

- One of my favorite things about living in the city now is that after coming home on Friday, my car pretty much stays put until Monday morning. I like to brag about it. Because it’s awesome. However, when you take off a random work day when friends are visiting, make sure you at least make a point of walking by your car at some point during that span of time. Because then you’d realize street cleaning would be happening and you should move it. And avoid getting a parking ticket. So much for saving money on transportation this month…

- My 26th birthday is coming up on the 25th and I’m not nearly as anxiety-ridden about it as I was for my 25th. Probably because I haven’t really given it much thought other than telling my boss what kind of cake he is to order. Yes, I’m sort of planning my own break room cake. At least it’ll be what I want. Sigh…

- Summer television will be the death of me. I need Community and Parks and Rec back in my life. Help!

- The lil’ heat wave we’ve got going on is killing my workout routine. The last few days I’ve had plans to run a little later in the evening, but the heat never broke to anything below 97. So I gave up and just walked with my water bottle. Not that there weren’t other runners out there. Idiots. Ok fine- there was a jealous bone in me that said “I’m mad I’ll never be that bad ass”. But then I called them idiots again and continued to get my walk on. Sulking the rest of the way home. Like a child.

- Somehow I was convinced to play rec league softball tonight. Since running isn’t really happening, time has to be occupied somehow. So um, standing around in the outfield in raging heat is apparently “ok” in my book. No idea why I agreed to this. It’s been an embarrassingly long time since this girl played in an actual game. Whatev. I’m sort of excited to see if maybe this could be a new regular thing. However, if any nails break… someone’s butt is getting kicked.

Laters!

Climbing Over The Wall

Thanks again for letting me know that I’m never alone in the occasional workout burnout

I’m happy to report I was successful in getting to the gym this morning.  Friday is normally a cross training day, but a *little* running just had to happen. Because I felt like it. The run was fine- no exhaustion, no ache, no problems. 2 solid miles at an 8:15 pace. Thank goodness.

Add 25 minutes on the elliptical to that and call it a day.

This made me feel so much better on my walk back home from the gym this morning.  Even if I had to trudge through snow to get to and from. But what’s new?

I’m glad the workout happened for various reasons. A little something was needed to get me up and moving after going to happy hour last night…

Happy hour very rarely occurs.  Mostly because, as you can see from my annoyance the last few days, I’m a routine girl.  But every once in a while, when scheduled beforehand of course, I enjoy a night out mid-week.  Sometimes this cures the Tuesday blues and sometimes this cures my itch to dance.  Whatever the reason, it’s a nice mental break to the week.

So Mon and I went out to eat and have a few drinks at a local irish pub. Due to the looming storm, we decided to cut it a little short and stop by a wine bar to pick up a bottle and enjoy the rest of our “Thirsty Thursday” in the safety of our own homes. We had merlot. It was good. Obviously.

Oh and one of Mon’s cats is a real ham for the camera… say hi to Phailin in the background.

For the record, Mon would like to point out that her cat is older than the fame that crazy lady in Alaska has.

And possibly smarter.

Because it’s FRIDAY, why not enjoy a good google search term? I thought I’d help the person out who searched “rock duet with words “waking up ” or (waking me up )”.

I think you’re looking for these kids:

You are SO welcome. And if you watch the video to the end, you get to enjoy the super high tech black light usage.  Oh buddy…

Happy Friday everyone! I’m going to be spending the weekend finishing up everything I need to do before my VACATION and climb some serious stairs on Sunday.  Hopefully at some point another 9 hours of sleep will happen. fingers crossed…

Goodbye Halloween Weekend…

Hey kids!  How are those sugar hangovers from Halloween treating you?

I’m personally sad it’s all over.  We had all been really excited about the Rod Tuffcurls show on Friday- so now I guess I’ll just be looking forward to the next time they’re around for a show again…Sorry- just had to throw in one last picture for good measure.

At least this week I have the Hot Chocolate 15k to look forward to!  It’s officially sold out at 30,000 runners- how crazy is that?  Since I pretty much abandoned my training plan, I’m nervous that I’m not as prepared for it as I should be.  If anything, it’ll be a nice chilly run downtown followed by rewards in the form of hot chocolate and fondue.  :)   Score!

*Oh and I’ve been following RAM Racing (who puts on the race) on twitter- they posted a pic of the 10,000 pounds of chocolate they’re shipping in for the post-race party.  Swoon…

Speaking of chocolate, I was definitely ready to switch it up after my various sugar highs from the holiday weekend.  When it came time for lunch, I needed salt- chips and salsa are a craving I get from time to time and it hit me hard yesterday. Also, I didn’t hold back and made the tallest turkey sandwich I’ve ever made.Turkey, avocado, red onion, and pepperjack.  The avocado made it slightly more difficult than the guac I used last week, so it’s a good thing I ate it in the privacy of my own home.  No one should be subjected to some of the messes I make with my food.  :)

In other news, I thought this would be a good time to do an update of all the latest and greatest ways to get to my blog via google search.  Because, let’s face it, it’s Monday and we need to keep things chipper up in here.  :)

Great looking girls.  Awwww…. google thinks I’m pretty!  Well that’s nice.  Considering some of the other ways people  have gotten here.

Kathy Griffen whores on crutches.  I really don’t know what to do with this one.  Have I even discussed Kathy on the blog?  I mean, my friend Mon adores  her… but that’s about it.  Hmmm…

and finally…

I’ve made a complete and utter fool of myself.  I couldn’t help but  laugh.  Because this one sounds right.  No worries google user- you’ve come to the right place!  There is no judgement passed in these parts.  Welcome, fool…

Time to grab the coffee.  And cross my fingers that there may be leftover Halloween candy in the breakroom.  We’ve got a long day (and week) ahead of us and it’s time to get it started the right way…

Good thing I’ve got something planned for tomorrow that will hopefully make your Tuesday a little better!  ;)   Stay tuned…

Waking Up is Hard to Do

Rarely do I gush, but after the comments on yesterday’s post, I would like to humbly and sincerely say thank you.  I blushed a little.  You kids are all fabulous.

And I also loved the reasons why you guys started your blogs.  Rock on!

To completely switch up the mood, wanna know one of my top google searches people used to get to my blog this week?  The term “sweaty girl”.

Classy.

It’s cool I guess.  I work up a sweat often.  In the gym.  And sometimes in my apartment.  Heads out of the gutter, please.  I’m talking about my workout dvds.  Let’s focus…

Yesterday morning was more of the regular.  I woke up at 5:10.  Because of the cooldown (I will discuss this more later in the post) it takes a little more than usual to talk myself into getting out from under my two comforters.  Yes- two.  There’s supposed to be one last warmup this week and I’m bound and determined to keep that heater off until we’re seen the last of the 70-degree weather.  Being a recessionista isn’t always glamorous.  So if you come visit me in the next couple of days, dress in layers.

And then I saw something shiny…

Where was I?

Oh yeah, back to the early workout…  Jillian and I met on the battlefield and took down Level 2 of The Shred.  I think it’s about time I upgrade on the weights.  I’ve said it before, but I actually mean it this time (I think).  5-lb is still a challenge on some of the moves.  But I like to think I’m ready to for some 7′s in my life.  I never claimed to be the strongest chick ever, but I’m sure as hell trying!  I also did the core circuit with my resistance bands.  It’s not my favorite circuit that is offered, but because I’m also slacking on the yoga, my core has felt a little left out as of late.  It seems the legs have gotten all the attention and the core is starting to develop the middle child syndrome.  (I totally just made a funny there.  Get it?  Because it’s my middle?  No?  Shoot….)

After work, I hit the cardio with a little elliptical time.  It was an all-around, well-balanced workout.  :)

But I won’t lie.  I was done-zo for the night.  And had no issues curling up under my blanket and chillaxin’ here:I’m pretty sure I’m thankful everyday for this couch that replaced the crappiest fouton ever.  Instead of hearing it creak every time I sit down, I just sink in and sigh a happy sigh.  :)   And yeah, even though I have a nice table, I still enjoy eating off of my coffee table in front of the tv.  No one’s perfect…

The food can be, though.Hello broccoli.  You needed special attention, too.  And I was happy to oblige.  Along with finishing off the rest of the baked BBQ chicken I made last Friday by throwing it into a sandwich- it seemed to last forever!

And so here we are this fine Wednesday morning… I slept well last night.  How do I know?  Because somehow I totally slept past my alarm.  I was frustrated.  I didn’t mind the sleep (who would?), but I’ve really started to enjoy getting in a good part of my workout in the morning.  Apparently the two comforters convinced me to stay in bed this time around.  It’s no biggie.  I just don’t enjoy the “rushed” feeling I get when I get home late and still want to hit the gym before relaxing for the evening.  Ick.

Thank goodness Modern Family doesn’t start until 8:00 around here.  Clearly I have priorities.  :)

Question of the day- Does the weather affect your workouts?  Are you a hard ass that keeps running through the winter (I salute you)?  Do you stop morning workouts because you don’t want to get out of bed?  Do you do more/less in your workout?  Are you going to just answer already so I can stop asking questions?  Seriously… why can’t I stop?

Happy Wednesday!

No Rhyme Or Reason

Apologies that my posts have been scattered the last few days.  But I’d be lying if I didn’t say that’s what it’s been like in my head the last few days as well.  At least it makes life interesting.  Anyways…

Friday- I heart you.

Although I did also heart yesterday being “rest day”.  It helped.  Today I’m much less crabby.

And more my perky self.  Weeee!  Seriously- I realize that rest days are there for a reason and now have even more of an appreciation for them.  As the weather turns, I’m sure I’ll enjoy them more being as how it consisted of curling up on the couch and watching tv for most of the night.

What also helped?  I said “screw the salad” at lunch and bought overpriced chili in my office cafeteria.  On a rainy day?  Worth every penny.  Also made me realize I need to make my own sooner than later.  Because sure, it was worth it yesterday given the circumstance, but almost $4 for a cup of chili is a little excessive in my book.  Especially when I have half the ingredients at home to make it- that I acquired from the ‘rents for free.  Shame.

What’s your fav comfort food?  Chili isn’t really mine, but it’s up there.  I’d say I’m a fan of anything that would qualify as a “Thanksgiving” food.  Lucky me that it’s getting closer…

I got home from work and uh…. rested.

Until I got the call.  Mon opened a bottle of red.

Yes please!  We ended up also watching City Island with Andy Garcia.  What has he done lately?  Apparently nothing until this movie.  He looked a bit aged.  But the movie was good.  Not really a drama… or a comedy.  More like a week in the life kind of movie I guess.  I left Mon’s house wanting to talk with a Bronx accent.  Think the little girl from Missouri can pull it off?  Maybe?

So I’m tired this morning.  But it’s cool.  I’m 8 hours away from the weekend.  Which was celebrated with a breakfast burrito (scrambled egg, spinach, and chedda’).And obviously caffeine.  That goes without saying.  Or picturing, in this case.

Oh… and I love this weather.  Usually.  Windows open all day/night = nice.  Windows open all day/night when a skunk rolls through = not nice.

Because I haven’t done it in a while, here are a few fun google search terms people used to find my blog.

- “men who lack adult supervision”  No comment necessary.

- “bob couldn’t handle me right now” Hmmm… poor Bob.

- “women runners with socks on fetish”  Great.  Now I’m attracting fetish people.  Pervs.

- “naked rock n’ roll”  Um.  I ran the rock n’ roll half.  Clothed.  But that’s interesting.  Whatever you’re doing should probably stay in the comfort of your own home.  Behind closed doors.  Clearly you wouldn’t get along with the dude above- he at least likes socks on.

Since there’s no better way to end a post on a Friday than by talking about naked rock n’ roll, I’ll leave you with that.

Have a great weekend!

Thursday Randoms

As the title (and the name of my blog) suggests, it’s going to be just that.  Hold on tight and try not to get lost.  :)

I’m glad you guys liked some of the tips for not overdoing the sweets last night.  I was somewhat nervous about posting it since diet choices/lifestyles can be such a personal and sometimes touchy subject.

New google search terms that people used to get to my blog that are worth mentioning:

What are the seats like at second city?  I assume you mean the Second City Theater.  I can answer that for you.  It’s tight seating and cabaret-style.  Please don’t let this deter you from going.  It’s a great time and they’re nonstop hilarious.  You’re welcome.

Saw Russell Brand walking down the street. I’m sort of  jealous of you mystery google-search-person…

Bug Went Up Nose.  I’m sorry.  That sucks.  I’ve been there.  We actually had the debate a few months ago here on the blog.  That’s still not as bad as having a bug fly into your eye.  I promise you.

It’s Friday Bitches.  Sounds like someone’s pretty excited.  One more day… woot woot.

Ok, enough of that and moving on…

Lunch yesterday was spent at a nearby grocery store.  We were having a meeting that included pizza and adult beverages and I was more than happy to make the beer run because it gave me an excuse to get out of the office for a bit.  So I got out and tacked it on to the end of my lunch. Didn’t mind a bit!  The grocery store next to me has a seating area for all of us lunchers who need to escape, so I hit up the salad bar and settled down there for some down time.I’m still working through the book I won from Leah a few weeks ago in a giveaway.  I really do like it so far- but I’m still only a little over half way through it…

The salad bar is an issue that Low also just discussed.  The grocery store salad bar is a definite step up (and considerably cheaper) than the one in the cafeteria in my office building.  My fav salad bars are the ones that include more than just “standards”- you know what they are- wilting lettuce, cauliflower, croutons, tomatoes, suspicious-looking pasta salad…

I was considerably happy with my salad today.  Some of that had to do with the fact that I had the sense to buy a bottle of salad dressing beforehand.  Everything offered at the bar is cream-based except for olive oil.  And I’m not a huge fan of just oil.  So that was a good idea on my part.  Also, I never get my carrots.  And check it out!  They’re so cute hanging out in the corner… :)   Finally, sometimes I like onions.  Red onions in particular.  Take note- please make sure to have an adequate amount of gum after eating said red onions.  Don’t be that person… (this has been my public service announcement of the week)

My only thing is that they have a crappy selection of containers.  I had to fill my, for lack of a better word, TUB with salad and make sure to not go overboard at the same time.  I have no idea how people can fill and then eat the entire thing.  Whew!

Ok- I’m feeling goofy, so do we have any really good salad bar horror stories?

I ran last night.  Yes.  Yes I did.  As you may have read yesterday, I was a little nervous.  The shins are throwing some fits and we’re having issues coming to an understanding.  Not so much an understanding, but a realization of who’s boss up in here.  I wore my new shoes and let me just say- running in those babies is like running on the clouds.  Wonderfulness.  Hey Fleet Feet dude- I don’t remember your name, but you ROCK.  I may love you.  Just a little. No restraining order necessary.  Promise.

Anyways, I got lost for a minute there… So I ran three miles.  And then I slowed down and walked to feel out the situation at hand.  I felt ok.  Not winded at all.  But, most importantly, the leg felt ok.  So I breezed through another mile and called it a night.  This morning I feel fine.  We’re still being diligent about icing and listening to the legs.  But I’m hoping this means I’m in the clear.

Happy Thursday everyone!  I’ve got a day of work and then am picking up my friends at the airport!  I still have to work tomorrow, but having visitors here will hopefully make it go by quickly!  :)   See ya later!
