I love that the majority of you say you can relate to yesterday’s post. It seems to be a bit of a workout rut that I’ve found myself in.
But luckily, I can count on you guys to call me out on it and say JUST JOIN A GYM ALREADY!
Really. I need people in my life to do that.
As some of you have known, there has been an ongoing hunt to find a decently priced gym where I can get my cardio in as the winter months approach and as Chicago weather continues to surprise (and often disappoint).
I found one.
It’s the Chicagoland chain near me. My first visit there was NOT impressive by any means. I greatly disliked it. It was out of my comfort zone and there is nothing I dislike more than getting bothered mid-workout. But I had a whole week with a free pass and they chilled out. So I chilled out.
Besides, this is going to be a great spot for people watching. There’s a very strong feeling I have about this.
And the guy we dealt with clearly needed to hit a quota or something. Because he bent over backwards for the last 2 weeks until he had a price for a month-to-month membership that the roomie and I were willing to accept.
We hustled that poor kid.
So yeah. I have a gym! It may be a bit of a meat market, but it has all the things I need to be content. As long as they just keep away from me with that pitch for all the protein they’re selling, I’ll be just fine.
No seriously, I really don’t want to buy protein, sir. I’m doing just fine. Yes, positive- I’m getting enough. Why don’t you go ask that guy without a neck and benchpressing 500 lbs over there? He may be interested…
The funny thing is we went in to sign last night and immediately left. Bailey was too tired to work out and I wanted to take advantage of the nice(ish) weather.
Glad we’re getting our money’s worth out of our shiny new gym pass already!
Either way, running had already sort of happened earlier during lunch. My friend and I got in a slow 2.6. He was sore from hitting up weights the day before. I was ok with that. Because last night I also threw in an extra 1.4ish to get in just shy of 4 miles for the day.
So there you have it. I have the mix-up in routine set in place. Now I just need to find a race. As to start really kicking ass. Word.
Now excuse me. I must go browse the fitness class schedule for my new digs. Because I’m intrigued by a few of them. And can’t wait to make a fool of myself. (And then tell you about it. Obviously)
