On with the weekend…

Happy Friday!

This is gonna be a short one- because I know we’re all ready to get into weekend mode.

Or at least I am. It’s been a busy week.

Busy. BUSY. Busy.

Meh.

But anyway, the second appointment at the dentist went about as well as the first. Same thing being done. Different side.

Without a doubt, he was much more generous with the novocaine being shot into my face.

While still at the dentist’s office, I caught a glimpse of myself in mid-conversation. It seems I was doing a Drew Barrymore impression the way the one side of my face refused to move.

Sexy.

I didn’t get to hang out and get ice cream with my friend Mon this time around, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t make a pit stop on the way home:It’s not Oberweis, but it’s definitely still amazing in my book!

One scoop non-fat vanilla frozen yogurt, one scoop pralines n’ cream (balance, my friends).

Being as how I supposedly learned from my mistakes last week, I was VERY careful as to not bite my cheek in the process of eating this.

Still woke up with it sore and clearly wounded. Is this something that happened while sleeping?  Really? What was I doing in my dreams???

I just can’t win.

But whatever- I am looking forward to this weekend. Not to get into things, but it’s been a sad week for my fam and even if I can’t be with them right now, I’m looking forward to a weekend of being surrounded by friends and also getting a few moments of silence.

Peace out, ya’ll.

PS- I’ll also be figuring out a “how-to” or finding an eloquent way to discuss post-lunch time workout cleanliness. Since quite a few of you asked.  :)

Twice

Guess I spoke too soon on cancelling yesterday’s lunchtime run.

D: We running today?

Me (after getting up to check outside… hesitating… checking again… checking online…): Yeah, let’s just do this.

Clearly, after being out late on a school night and just tired in general, I was anything less than motivated. And the fact that we had gone on Monday just made it that much easier to want to cancel (“we’ve already ran once this week! That’s better than what we were doing a few weeks ago over lunch!”).

Once we met up, we were still pretty slow to get excited about anything.

Me: I’m really tired. Mind if we keep it relaxed today?

D: Sure, my hip hurts a little anyway and I went to the game last night. You set the pace. I don’t care at all.

Our usual trail path was pretty flooded. It took all of 15 seconds to turn around and alter our route into new territory.

Turns out I like the new path better. It’s wider. Smoother. Less tree limbs to dodge. And just makes me happier. Yes, yesterday it was mentioned that I’m warming up to trail running. But I’ll still prefer my roads. Or something similar.

That slower-paced run we agreed to? Easily the fastest run we’ve done yet. It started out the same, but we stopped talking less than half-way through as to save our breath. Even with the humidity, I felt so much more comfortable with my stride on the smoother surfaces.

Had I not feared becoming a gross mess and not been so constricted with a time limit, I would have suggested another 10 minutes onto the 25 that we did.

Thankfully, I didn’t. Because by the time I was back at my desk with my lunch, it was pouring again.  Close call! But we got our lunch time run in this week! Twice!

I’m really glad about that. Because the boxes of stuff I’ve been moving/unpacking as my “weights” routine are slowly dwindling. And I’m yet to really figure out how my new workout schedule will go.

The new roomie has been warned about my fondness of Jillian Michaels workout dvds. I’m not sure if she realizes that I’m serious. However, she will be walking in on me doing them very soon and will realize it’s not a joke.

The look on her face leads to me believe she’s envisioning Jane Fonda and leg warmers. Maybe a thighmaster or something.

But that won’t happen tonight. I’ve got another “situation” to see the dentist about.

Seriously guys… if you’re gonna get more than one cavity (oops), keep them to one side. Otherwise they’ll make you come in twice. And give you judging looks for getting a cavity at all- twice. And numb your face twice. Which makes you feel silly and more awkward than normal… twice.

At least this means I get ice cream… twice! Take THAT, Mr. Dentist!

I’ll just be a little more cautious about chewing on my cheek this time. Only have to learn that lesson ONCE.

Miss Grumpers

Hi. I’m Amy. And I’m in a bad mood.

It’s ok- I’m not asking for sympathy. We’ve all had bad days/weeks and I’ll get over it. It’s just that my usual laid back approach to life is starting to be hindered by stress factors coming at me from every direction.

It’s making me feel extremely high strung. And a little unhinged.

I mean, for example, we always talk about traffic and use the phrase “I just wanted to scream”.

Have you every actually done it? Because let me tell you- people hear it. And stare. And it doesn’t really help anyway. So, um, fail.

Thankfully, people that I’m surrounded by on a daily basis are putting up with me still. So after everything, that’s one thing I’ve got going for me this week.  ;)

Another thing is that, even though I’m still in rage mode, I have a friend who went with me to get this:Ice cream! There is ice cream under all the toppings. I swear I didn’t just have a cup of cookie dough bits and heath bar (but does that really sound so bad?). The girl behind the counter got a little carried away. Not that I minded.

The little kid in me jumped for joy! I heart Oberweis ice cream!

The reason for this dinner (and yes, it was dinner) was because I had a dentist appointment to get, ahem, some things filled. *Insert hanging head in shame here. But for the record, the dentist assured me it wasn’t really my fault that the seals I had put on my teeth way back in the day had worn out. These things happen. Sigh…

Ironic that the thing I reward myself with after a trip to the dentist is ice cream.

In my defense, most of my food is at the new place and there are limited “little chew” options around here.

Either way, I needed it. And wanted it. Even if it was completely eaten on my left side in order to taste/feel it. Dentists don’t mess around with those numbing shots. My ear was even numb.

I woke up this morning with a little soreness in my right cheek- pretty sure I bit it a few more times than I realized over the course of last night. Blah.

Shake your head at the ice cream. That’s fine. But it was magical.

And, dare I say, put me in a better mood?

Thanks for taking me to Oberweis, Mon!

She’s such a trooper for putting up with me right now. Even if she did promise to go earlier in the week without realizing the mood I surrendered to at some point over the last few days.

I’m off to start my Friday. Because the sooner I start it, the sooner I get to have my pizza and wine tonight.

Coincidentally, pizza used to be the reward my brother and I got for going to the dentist back in the day.

And, well, wine is my reward for pretty much anything…

Cheers!
