Not Normal

Hey there! How’s it hangin’?

I’m doing pretty well. Probably has something to do with the whole only working 4 days this week thing…

Whatever gets me through, right?

Also, it helped that Sunday was relatively quiet.

Brunch was had with a few awesome blogger ladies. But there’s no real evidence of it other than a fuzzy picture taken by Paige. Not normal behavior for me. I’m usually somewhat camera happy at such events. Guess I was too busy talking and inhaling food from the brunch buffet.

Weirdly enough, I didn’t prep a meal for myself at all yesterday. My roommate has gone a little stir crazy over the last week or so due to her current job seeking status. So she’s taken on a few new hobbies. One of them would be trying out the gym by our place with me.

Another would happen to be cooking.

If you knew my roommate, you would know this is not normal behavior.

I’m starting to wonder if she’s possessed.

However, I only benefit from her new habits, so there shall be no complaints from the peanut gallery.

Only nods of approval as I stick a fork in my face.Tex Mex Chicken Casserole.

First it was biscuits and gravy at brunch and now this.

I was clearly in the mood for serious comfort food. Not normal. But welcomed.

We had our little family dinner in front of the tv. Aladdin was on.

Abc Family really came through for me this last weekend. Boy Meets World on Saturday morning. Disney classics Sunday evening. Good stuff.

Bailey said Aladdin was one of the first movies she remembers seeing in the theaters. According to my mom, mine was Milo and Otis. However, I actually remember going to see The Little Mermaid much better.

Now it would be your turn to tell me the first movie you remember going to.

Aaaaaannnnnddddd GO.

  1. You’re making me feel old again, Amers. The first movie I remember seeing in a theater is the Jungle Book in 1984. My friend’s older sister was in the same theater watching Ghostbusters, but her mom said we were too young. We did catch the very end, with the marshmallow man, and I remember wondering why they thought I was too young to see a marshmallow man. It’s confusing being a kid.

  2. I remember going to see the care bears 2 when I was about 5 or so. I fell asleep half way through…but I have it on dvd for nostalgic purposes ;)

  3. The Great Muppet Caper and E.T. because I’m older than the hills.

  4. I think it was Snow White, back when Disney would re-release movies in the thearters every 7 years (just to verify that happened, I googled. They actually put them in “The Vault” back before VHS took off.

And when isn’t Mexican food appropriate? It may be 10 am, but I am now needing tacos.

  5. Ooooo, I love Aladdin, and Milo & Otis, and The Little Mermaid. Memories! :)

  6. Wow, I wish I could remember. That’ll be a question I throw at my mom, because I saw a movie yesterday and I can’t even remember the name. But if had Justin Timerlake and the girl from Third Rock in it. Super cute movie.

Can I move in with your roomie? Assuming she does the dishes after cooking, of course :)

    Have a great week, girl!

  7. I think mine was All Dogs Go to Heaven. A classic.
Dinner looks great, especially if you didn’t have to cook it!

  8. Fern Gully. That’s the first movie I saw in the theatre. I still remember the drive there and everything. It was so exciting.

  9. I think mine was maybe the Lion King, but I’m sure I saw like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or something else before that.

  10. First movie I remember? I think maybe Roger Rabbit…wasn’t Jessica a little risque for kiddies?

  11. Boy Meets World – wow! I haven’t thought about that show in SO long…

  12. Holy crap, I’m in shock- B cooked?? Wow. I need a minute. ;) And ps, your purse was too full of popcorn at brunch yesterday to worry about digging out your camera. It’s a valid excuse.

  13. Honey I Shrunk the Kids. Ironically, my friend and I were just talking about that.

I love Boy Meets World. That’s not a typo. That’s present tense.

  14. Umm Fantasia? I think I remember being scared, haha.

  15. I think Fantasia was one of the first movies I saw too – I don’t think I liked it.

  16. Can I come live with you all? I figure she cooks you bake and I can mix the drinks. Say yes! I remember seeing the little mermaid in the theater. Afterwards I had to pee and my dad made me go into some sketchy kwik stop to use their restroom. Thanks dad. I think the first movie I saw was Police Academy.

  17. I think it was 101 Dalmatians or The Little Mermaid. Not exactly sure though.

  18. Sorry I missed the brunch! I felt miz after the race so I went home for a nap

  19. I remember walking out of the Fievel (sp) movie because he got swept away or lost (or something to that affect) and was all alone without his parents and I couldn’t take it. Good thing The Lion King didn’t come out until I was a bit older. I doubt I would have handled that one well.

  20. Mine was Batman w/ Michael Keaton. Sooo good and started my obsesh w/ the caped crusader. :)

  21. awww Milo and Otis! I remember the Little Mermaid as being one of my first. But I think All Dogs Go to Heaven was before that. My sister cried and I didn’t – I felt like such a tough guy…

  22. I remember going to see some Carebear movie. I was obsessed with “Birthday Bear” which is probably why it made such an impression.

  23. Wow, I’m thinking it’s the Little Mermaid, but I can’t be quite sure! Although I had everything Little Mermaid, from pillow cases, to towels, so it’s a pretty safe assumption!

  24. The movie I first remember going to was E.T at the drive-in. I remember my older sister cried her eyes out at the end and I laughed at her. I just aged myself by admitting this was my first movie. I’m old.

  25. I’m usually a little camera happy too! Too bad we were both off our game yesterday :-P It was still so good to see you again though. Like Megan said, we should get together for a Cubs game before the season is over!!

  26. You are going to age me on this one! ET was the first one I remember really well, but Secret of Nihm was another one that I saw when I was in day care. I watched Alladin this weekend too! They played it a few times. Sounds like you have some good stuff coming from your kitchen although I do wish your roommate luck on finding a new job.

  27. Beauty and the Beast. My standards are now impossibly high. Thank you for sharing your words and pictures, my friend. I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow. I’m enjoying your post with a big bowl of watermelon. Just perfect. Much love and many blessings from Austin!

  28. I remember My Little Mermaid vividly as my first movie in theaters. I think I was in like 1st grade so maybe I saw another before then but I certainly don’t remember it. And gotta love a cooking roommate. I would take advantage too!

  29. Hm…I’m not sure of the exact first movie, but I do remember seeing the Lion King, the Mighty Ducks, and a League of their Own for my birthdays. I loved movie theater birthday parties!

    Enjoy that home cookin’ :)

  30. I was reading the comments and thinking, okay, I am going to be the oldest person on this comment thread once I reveal my first movie. It was ET. Seeing that it was also Melissa’s first movie makes me feel slightly better as I’m in good company!
