Low Profile

Yesterday I didn’t post.

It was Friday the 13th. Seemed safer to just keep a low profile. You just never know when it comes to such things.

Besides, I didn’t have a lot going on. It was a rest day in every which way.

Ever since half marathon training started back in January, I’ve used Friday as a recovery and rest day so Saturday could be super kick-ass.

This seemed smart in theory. Not so sure if it always worked. But I’ve decided to keep up with the trend- even if the race is well behind me.

Plus, after a long week of work, there is nothing better than walking through the door after a stupidly long commute and just collapsing on the couch.

My roommate was not far behind. We bond through our sheer laziness.

At some point, I got hungry. There was chicken defrosting in the refrigerator, or a burrito at my local mexican joint with my name on it.

The cooking of the chicken won out. Mostly because I didn’t feel like putting my shoes back on to venture outside.

Plus, you can’t really walk down the street or into a restaurant with an open glass of wine.

I mean… what if you dropped it?

On top of that, there is quite a bit of food in my refrigerator that needed to be used up. And if I wanted to still have that kick-ass workout this morning, a burrito bomb with extra guac and sour cream might not be overly helpful. Counterproductive, to say the least.

We’ll save that for late-night after-party snackage. :)

So I was a good little girl and made myself some chicken with a side of brussels sprouts and the last of some sweet potato fries.

Stewie was a little nervous about Friday the 13th, too...

It was then a swift retreat back to the previously mentioned couch to watch The Descendants.

Definitely worthy of all the Oscar attention it got. However, not really a “feel good” movie. Makes sense, being as how it’s about finding out that your comatose wife cheated on you.

Yet worthy of a tear or two.

I know. What is going on with me?

We also rented Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Since it didn’t get watched last night, we’ll get to it at some point today, I’m sure.

Even if I will probably feel the need to purchase another dead bolt and sleep with the light on for a few days/weeks/whatever.

I’m not mature enough for “R” rated movies.

See what I mean?

  1. After working until nearly 8pm last night I too came home and spent some quality time with my couch and a bottle of wine. Fridays are good for that sort of thing. As for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie – it’s good, I think you’ll like it. Just don’t watch it with your parents. ;)

  2. I watched this movie called Detachment on Thursday and I’m still feeling the depressing repercussions. This is great considering the fact that Blue Valentine just showed up via Netflix. And I just finished a book where the main character gets killed on the very last page. I need a happy book/movie ASAP.

  3. i love lazy fridays. i had a very hectic week, but had tickets to the phillies/mets last night so i couldn’t sit home on my couch and veg. after the game, the bars, and public transportation, i’m feeling my old-lady-ness now, because it’s 1:00 PM and i’m still in my pajamas with no discernible plan or desire to do anything. and it’s so sunny outside! if only i had an outdoor couch…

also: don’t watch girl with the dragon tattoo with parents or parent-like figures. bad news.

  4. These kinds of fridays are the BEST! Getting wild is what saturdays are for! haha

I loved Girl With A Dragon Tattoo.. I they did an awesome job taking mostly everything from the book. It’s a good thing you are watching it with your roommate and not your parents because my roommate did that and lets just say that this is NOT the movie you want to watch with the folks. Awkward.

  5. I hear you about the maturity. I used “that’s what she said” about four times yesterday, so I was more well behaved than usual. :)

  6. Hi Stewie:) I also enjoyed a delicious burrito this weekend, it’s been awhile but I went all out – and made sure my kick-ass Saturday including a long run, haha.

I have been with girlfriends in the past month that have both walked out of a restaurant with a full bottle of wine and a glass. now you know why women have big purses.

I’m dying to watch The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, but I feel like I should read the book first… but I’ll prolly end up watching the movie, haha

  7. The Descendents is next up in my Netflix que. I’m glad it lived up to the hype.

  8. ha yes i went to see the descendants while slightly depressed and it was not helpful!! a good movie nonetheless though :). hope you’re having a fun sunday amy!

  9. ugh, I was a hot mess watching that movie, but I really liked it. And I almost rented GWTDT but I still haven’t read the book and part of me wants to try one more time before I accept that it’s not going to happen and just watch the movie. Hope you had a great weekend, lover!

  10. E and I watched The Des. a few weeks back. I had already seen it but it was his first time. He thought it was fantastic and I thought it was even more morbid than the first time I watched.

  11. We saw The Descendents on Friday night. Oh my gosh…I had no tissues with me and needed a box. I was practically sobbing by the end of the movie.
